After watching a few more times I have a few critical points and questions regarding the first minute of this film.

:15 I didn’t know they had sharpies in “ancient” times. That script looks hella made up, paper to white. Should have stained the paper with tea or something.

:26 All ancient books are hand written, and how can he confirm he has the only copy?

:30 They didn’t dye leather black in ancient times, this is a fairly modern (and slightly S&M) development.

:33 He mentions “replicas”.. Wait I thought he just said he had the only copy!

Here is what 5 seconds of research got me.

A Veve or Vévé (also spelled beybey and vever) is a religious symbol commonly used in voodoo. It acts as a “beacon” for the loa (also spelled lwa) – a type of spirit, and will serve as a loa’s representation during rituals. In the past, it was believed that the veve was derived from the beliefs of the native Tainos, but more recent scholarship has demonstrated a close link between the veve and the cosmogram of the Kongo people.According to Milo Rigaud’s book, Secrets of Voodoo (c1969; City Lights, NY), “The veves represent figures of the astral forces… In the course of Voodoo ceremonies, the reproduction of the astral forces represented by the veves obliges the loas … to descend to earth.”

Every Loa has his or her own unique veve, although regional differences have led to different veves for the same loa in some cases. Sacrifices and offerings are usually placed upon them, with food and drink being most commonly used in the West. A veve is usually drawn on the floor by strewing a powder-like substance, commonly cornmeal, wheat flour, bark, red brick powder, or gunpowder, though the material depends entirely upon the ritual. In Haitian Vodou, a mixture of cornmeal and wood ash is used.

personally the song is ok. hook and music are great, the verses are a little lackluster. im not gonna judge him off one song. I think the gimmick will work in the long run. when boondox first dropped I hated prey with snakes and thought he was a joke. now I love his whole discography. we didn’t really get a boondox record til his second. harvest was kinda simple and u can tell j wrote a lot of hooks and stuff. it”ll probably be the same thing with hoodoo. also I hate the name but I also hated boondox at first.

I have listened to this shit countless times now. I fuckin love it n hope the rest of the album is dope. I think psychopathic may have struck gold with this but it has to be maintained properly not to fuck it up. I can’t wait for the album to drop.

Really digging Big Hoodoo. I loved the concept of a voodoo artist from the onset, and it’s definitely looking like he’ll deliver. He has a good look to him, love the facepaint and overall silhouette of his outfit, and dat hat. Song itself has a nice beat to it, some good ol’ wicked shit. With Boondox rumored to be coming back, would love to have them do a track together.

Also, this may be a sin but…I kinda want him to do a cover of Southwest Voodoo.

One thing, among the many, that keeps bugging me about this gimmick is the makeup. Two concerts into his first tour he’s going to be in charge of painting himself up. It’s going to be cut down to some simple lines and look nothing like the original presentation. Yes, worried about how he applies his makeup is seemingly trivial, but if you’re going to go to all the lengths Psychopathic already did to put this whole gimmick together the makeup is important. Imagine is unfortunately a huge thing in music today, especially in this genre of music. You’re either full tilt with the gimmick, or drop it all together.
