Theres a shit ton of artists that are considered "mainstream" that I bump too all the time. If an artist was successful enough, he can go mainstream or underground and still sell million along with keeping his fan base. People like Jeezy, UGK, Jay-Z, Trae Tha Truth, Gucci Mane, etc, have proven that. You can hate them or love them, but theres no denying going "mainstream" did better for them to thier careers.

But see, signing a distribution deal and signing a record deal are two completely different things. He payed the distribution company, they didn't pay him. They are working for him, he is not working for them.
Why do you think ICP has gotten so much publicity lately? Tons of interviews, their own TV shows, actual POSITIVE interviews. None of this happened until AFTER the left Red and Singed with Fontana. (I did just learn that UMG is no longer part of Fontana so that's cool
Macklemore is not a Mainstream artist just because his album (or some songs on it) has mass appeal. He made a smart business decision.

Yea seriously, I love Psychopathic music, but its not the only music I listen too...by far. IN fact psychopathic, makes but a small percentage of my music in my 80gb ipod and i have MOST of Psy's music on there lol. Maybe its just me, but i got an open mind for all genres of music

I guess what I meant is he is still getting most of the money from his record sales. He used them as a tool, he didn't let them use him. So yes, their money got the song on the radio, but he is still independent in the sense of artistic freedom in integrity, which was what the point of this conversation was in the first place.

Which is like, everyday. Give me immunity and I will gladly shoot that worthless fuck in the face without a second thought or an ounce of remorse.
