He called a fuckload of rappers out on his verse on Big Sean’s Control, it is good to get some competition in rap again, makes people work harder.
I am only posting Kendrick cause I don’t like those other cats:
Joell Ortiz from Slaughterhouse was the first to respond. I know many of you aren’t into mainstream hiphop, but I am excite to see how this turns out

I definitely liked what he did there. I think he was tryna remind the rap game of how it used to be. Dudes are getting soft French montana and juicy j are makin songs with miley cyrus these days. I used to love french montana but he changed soon as he started goin mainstream.
I fuck with everybody in odd future they’re all pretty nice hodgy and domo both released mixtapes that were straight fire

My homie (the one you met) apparently was talking to some guy who was going backstage to interview Twiztid, and he told the dude to ask Twiztid about the Kendrick thing, and apparently he ended up doing it and they gave him a response. So we will see when that video drops.
Papoose definitely went in though, some of the jabs in it weren’t that great but as a whole it was a nice track.

Wow…
That’s Kendrick Lamar?
I’ve been avoiding him because niggas told me he was the truth and the last emcee they told me was the truth was Drake, and before that Wayne, so I stopped listening to what they told me. Now all I hear out of anyone’s mouth is Kendrick Lamar kendrick lamar kendrick lamar. Mainstream rappers finally have someone to shout out besides OF via Frank Ocean and *this* is who it is?
Weak.
It’s funny Pap should be the first to respond, I find this verse about as painfully underwhelming as Alphabetical Slaughter.
So this is what’s supposed to put a fire under the mainstream ass, eh?
I’m not trying to be a hater, I’d like anyone to explain to me why I’m wrong so I can see from their perspective. It happened with Wayne (I realized I already like tons of retard music so he’s not really any worse); never with pap; never with drake. Make it happen with this “Sticky Fingaz at 60” sounding, two sets of Carlton-like names havin ass nigga.

did you really just compare Kendrick’s sound to a 60 year old Sticky Fingaz?!?!?! lmao…way off but keep thinking that man

@mentalcaseproject A comparison based on my opinion can’t be “way off”. As far as you know, my ears perceive sound so differently that my brain might not be able to differentiate between the two at all, while to you they sound totally different. So eat me.
@mykal86 The only rappers I’ve heard that I care about at all in the past few years have been Hopsin, Basedgod, Roach Gigz, and Danny Brown.
Last rappers I actually cared about before that shit was Doom and Madlib. A fuckin decade ago.

I thought kendricks verse and both of the respones were boring as fuck. I just can’t connect to this type of hip hop

Yeah my list is just as small. As far as recent stuff goes its Slumerican, Swollen Members, Run The Jewels, and La Coka too…unfortunately those are all groups that have folks that have been doing it since the 90s so that doesnt even count as the new school just new to me.
Before that the new dope for me was D12 and G Unit and that was a fucking decade ago and we know both those groups dissolved…thats pretty much why I tried Slaughterhouse and Black Hippy on the Dre and Em connection and neither connected(I figured slaughter with Royce in it but nah)
