The flag is literally a symbol of racism. No southerner alive today had ANYTHING to do with the failed nation related to the flag. However, the flag was down heavily in the 60s to intimidate civil rights protestors. Under the guise of “southern pride” it was used to harass and provoke people of color. It was literally a battle cry for racist whites in what they saw as a final battle of the civil war. It is about heritage in that it’s about believing that white families are better than black families.

All this. “That’s not what it means to me” shit is ridiculous. Would they say that about a swastika hatchetman? I sure the fuck hope not.

but yeah, the comparison between hatchetman and rebel flag makes no sense, considering that the hatchetman doesnt have the original meaning the FBI thinks it has (proven) and the rebel flag, well, just has, originally. (proven)
