I am going to get in shape. But I was blessed with a fast metabolism as a kid and was very active. It has been only in the last few years living this so called "real life" that I have turned into someone unhealthy and in a shape I do not want to be in. I have no clue how to get healthy. I do not know what foods to eat, good exercises and good habits to work into my day to day.
So I am making this thread to gather and share info for anyone else looking to get in shape or just hit a physical goal. Anyone with input please share. This thread is to help encourage me to achieve my goal, and I hope others can set their goals and as a community support each other to reach them. I will update with more info tomorrow.

Here's the best advice I can give you : FUCK THAT SHIT. Plenty of people get in shape and get hit by trucks, it doesn't guarantee you a longer life. If you're doing it to get a girlfriend, and it works, now you have to stay in shape, because "You didn't look like this when I met you." Whatever your reason, let me repeat, FUCK THAT SHIT. Go grab a few pounds of bacon, make yourself an insane bacon burger, sit on the couch and EAT THAT SHIT. Fuck that getting in shape bullshit. I'm sitting at my desk eating a box of doughnuts, later I'm going to 5 guys, and I'm not jogging there. Sit on your ass, eat well, be yourself. Fuck that boflex bullshit.

even though i think this topic was started by a robot, ill respond.
pat, i dont exactly disagree with your point, but at the same time, i dont see any reason not to have a little physical fitness. it tends to make you feel better, and its nice to know that when the shit goes down, you can rely on your body to do what you want it to.
having said that, fitness freaks who exercise more than about half an hour to an hour a week can fuck off. i say this, because far too many of em are narcissistic jerkoffs who flex at themselves in the mirror for hours on end. youd have to work at it to find someone more pathetic than that.

It's mostly in what you eat. I felt like shit not eating properly when I wasn't drinking much and not doing drugs. I feel great now and I drink almost daily. Stay away from processed meats and all that shit with laboratory ingredients. It costs more for organic food but it's worth it to me.

most of the scientific literature ive seen on the subject tends to show little to no health effect from eating organic food. some go so far as to claim actual deleterious effects, both those usually turn out to be based on very poor evidence, as is most [if not all] of the pro-organic writings. in other words, they pulled the conclusions out of there asses.
my only concern vis a vis organic food is that, it seems to me, its likely that it would force you into a much more complex and varied diet, in order to get the nutrient levels that are best for proper health. this is especially true for vegetarians, who are already voluntarily cutting themselves off from half of the available nutrient sources.
also, lets face it, lots of these organic farmers are dilletantes, nonprofessional flakes who dont know shit about microbiology or nutrition, and not a lot more about horticulture. but they do know that chemicals with long names are so very scary.
'dihydrogen oxide? id never drink that filth!'

Could be the case with store sold organic foods. I get mine locally from farmers within an hour drive of the city. All the beef and pigs are natural without any steroids and the veggies don't have large amounts of pesticides in their fields.
Eggs, peanuts, seeds, grains, small fish and tuna ( not as much mercury) and natural meat from animals is where I get my protein. I'll try and buy organic fruits when the season is right….I am in Canada so I will buy imported fruits in the winter. It's probably impossible to avoid everything but I do try and cut down on as much crap as I can. Veggies are usually organic locally and even those, I wash before i cook em. I usually boil my water too, but that doesn't get fluoride out.
It's prolonged my alcohol consumption and I never get hangovers since I've started it. That's just me, I'm sure if you just ate healthy without it being organic you'd feel improvements after awhile.

One thing you should watch how much you intake besides large fish that contain more mercury, is rice. Sounds stupid but every single test on every single brand and kind of rice these days are showing high levels of arsenic. Something to do with the harvesting process being lower to the ground.

ive heard that domestic rice, including, notably, rice grown here in missouri, has 'higher levels' of arsenic. it is theorized that this is because the land was once used for cotton cultivation, where arsenic based pesticides were utilized.
it should be noted, also, that although the levels are higher, they are still well below the 'safe' levels. you probably get as much arsenic from water. i mean, unless you eat rice all day everyday, in which case, youll be looking at a case of beriberi anyway.

Maybe there is Karma
I don't believe in safe levels of arsenic. They don't even use it in lumber any more because of the dangers. Pressure treated lumber is the only kind that has traces and they went with the whole safe level thing there. I got a tiny splinter that made my finger swell up like crazy from working with it. Doctor told me no arsenic is safe. It's deadly. Lot's of money in rice to put a complete halt to it. They like money more.

I have amazing metabolism. No matter what I do I can't gain weight. My doctor told me this is more dangerous than being overweight because I think I'm healthy when my arteries could still clog up. It's what you eat that causes that.
I made it to 20 of those before I needed a smoke and a beer hahaha....I need more practice

i have the same 'problem'.
it is nice, though, to be able to put a massive hurt on a buffet, and not worry about ballooning. apparently, thats a concern for most people... poor them.

hahaha….They all hate on us now, until we die from heart related problems before them.
im not really expecting that to happen, because performing simple actions doesnt place any real strain on my cardiovascular system.
i also dont sweat when i stand up.
no, if i manage to get along without getting murdered or offing myself, im sure itll be cancer that gets me.
