For the record, you're the one actually afraid to take a vaccine. If you weren't afraid you'd take it anyway because it wouldn't be a big deal either way. For the record, we finally tried some poutine (I guess vermont is close enough to Canada to have it be a common side at restaurants here, like how Colorado is obsessed with breakfast burritos and green chili from states below it)... and it was... just fine, I guess. I wouldn't want to order it again, despite my love of fries. Just never been a gravy lover. When we lived down south they introduced us to sausage gravy and that was pretty good.

As someone that has worked in mental health, I hope that's not a comment trying to imply all mental health issues are the result of inheritance because that's not how that works. In a familial line, sure there's a higher probability of some inheritance and susceptibility, but it's a bunch of eugenics nonsense to declare that people are cast into two different castes of genetically destined and genetically immune. That's referred to as the "racehorse theory" and it's been debunked by geneticists and mental health experts. It was used as a marketing tool by some pharma company-associated psychiatrists to increase sales of antidepressants in the 90s and early 2000s and the industry paid dearly for it (look up the largest pharmaceutical lawsuits of all time; billions and billions for spreading misinformation and off-label prescriptions to a point it was considered a fraud epistemic in mental health). There are hundreds of genes associated with brain structuring, neurotransmitters, hormones, etc... the overwhelming majority of which do not directly form causal links to overall behavior or cognition. The bio-psycho-social model was developed to replace the pure bio model after it was discovered that the majority of structural differences in studied populations (less than 1% of 1% of the diagnosed) where caused by repeated stress combined with the adoption of uncritical thinking, stemming from exposure through social groups and primitive rationalization during early to mid development. This has a stronger correlation to specific brain pathologies tied to mood disorders, anxiety disorders, some psychotic disorders and some development disorders. There have been a number of unethical experiments which also indicate that you take just about anyone and subject them to abuse long enough to obtain a desired result of psychosis. Sure, the occasional non-double-blind non-independantly unreplicated /poorly done study will assert direct correlations been genetics and outcome, but so far most have been critically examined internally by the NIMH, APA, etc and found to be heavily flawed when applied to the larger diagnosed population.

I used to believe in tons of myths about mental health until I was required to take academic courses on the subject (specifically on common misinformation) for my former occupations. I don't expect anyone to just accept challenges to what they think they "know" about the subject, because I've been there.

I think it's clear that Smack is both a shithead and mentally ill, and neither of which are a genetic argument from my position. He's saturated himself in bullshit and emotion, and when people do that it amplifies the symptoms of their condition. If I were to take a guess, I'd say he wasn't treated well growing up and developed mild narcissism to combat it (to regain and protect his ego/self-esteem), and then delved into conspiracies in order to explain why the world is the way it is, as well as to justify fantasies of some sort of revolution. He found other self-protective narcissists doing the same thing (it's not uncommon for this drop off into politics). The problem is that whether or not that's true, he's adopted a framework that has actually spread more harm and misinformation than it corrects. When people get too deep into bs, they often stand their ground out of embarrassment, fear or pride. When that pathology gets out of hand (due to a number of issues) it's called "psychological anchoring", and it's worse than stubbornness because people suffering from that cognitive bias are often unwilling to change their mind under any circumstance. The thought process causes them to value consistency and aggression over accuracy to the point they become dangerous.
