They base their decisions off of instinct and emotion doesn't account into it. That and we are the only species that kills for reasons other than survival or territory defense…Really we kill over nothing……Actually I just looked it up after starting this post and it seems that the debate is open. There isn't a lot of evidence that they are self aware. There isn't a lot saying they aren't either….I just got my info second hand from a buddy who is taking classes on psychology and biology right now.
I do think it's interesting that elephants bury their dead…so maybe yall are right…Maybe not though

I'm going to throw an ancient alien answer at this one. Check human DNA. We've only deciphered a very small percentage of it. The answer is probably in the other 90% or so that we haven't.

actually, theyve deciphered more than you probably think. the whole genome has been sequenced.
as far as encipherment, that was pretty much taken care of once we began understanding mrna expression. after that, you can damn near brute force the rest.
do a little research, its amazing what we know already, and what we will find out any day now.
but dont use any sources with the word 'alien' in it. real science.

DNA is almost a complete mystery. They can see the tree has roots, but they can't explain the process that started it all to begin with (pre-seed). This will always be the never-ending question that comes with this topic.
Where is your research telling you they've figured it all out. I'd love to read it.

who is 'they'? because it sure isnt botanists. botanists do understand that, quite well.
go to any peer-reviewed medical or scientific journal.
or, just go to the used bookstore and pick up a few college textbooks. thatll lay the groundwork.
you will note that i did not say it was all figured out. nor did i say it was my research. youre acting like you can 'win' the dna argument.
the reason the questions will be never-ending, is because most people dont want to have to actually learn anything before making declarative statements.
education is not your enemy, but i does make it harder to be ignorant.

I heard, correct me if I'm wrong because it was not a reputable source, but I heard that cats do kill mice for recreation, and I also heard that when they eat their brains it gives them a DMT trip. I might have actually heard that on this forum.
