What do you think it is that separates humans from other animals?
Somebody once told me that humans are just animals so I shouldn't expect much from them, I believe that there is something about humans that puts us a level above the rest of the animal kingdom so we should expect a lot better from the human race, I just can't exactly name what it is.
What do you think it is?

Frontal lobe, self awareness. the ability to think in the abstract. To ponder our own mortality. We ARE animals if ya wanna get scientific....Every living thing on earth is either a plant, animal, fungei, or bacteria (one more?)
There's a gateway in our minds

the way its mostly looked at now, the kingdoms are; animals, plants, fungi, protists, bacteria, and archaea. the last three are microorganisms.
what with dna and rna sequencing, phylogenetics is finally starting to take off. its really fascinating shit, if youre patient with all the big ass words.
awfully paranoid, arent you?

Animals are self aware though. Especially chimpanzees.

Could we being a species on Earth with higher intelligence be the reason why we are separate from animals? Could we being the creators of guns, chemicals, literature, documenting our past, finding cures for diseases. Could those be part of the line that separates us from animals? Could our ever continuing search for understanding be what separates us from animals? The only equal part of us and animals is we share the Earth.

I looked up "how much of our dna and animal dna is similar"… but first when I typed in "how much" into Google the first predictive answer thing read "how much house can i afford"… I stopped searching after that.
classic.
percentagewise, i believe that for primates its in the high nineties, chimpanzees over ninety-nine, and for houseflies its still like thirty or forty percent.
