I know what you are talking about, iLL. It's a concept that some people just can't grasp.

Oh, and don't argue with Novo, he's a simple man.

Concept that my political science teacher introduced me to.

Yes, I , so inferior to children born to wealth and given all they could ever want off of old money. it's my fault my family faught for everything they had and their family hasnt worked an honest days work since great grand daddy found that oil well on some land he *borrowed* from a bunch of *savages*. I certainly was given every opportunity in my lower-middle class home as the likes of, say, Mitt  Romney (who im sure youre butt hurt over wasting a vote on) in his multi million dollar house. All seven of them. Of course I'm lazy for wanting a fair chance. Why should the top 1% share any of their inexhaustible wealth that could last their family of betters hundreds of years with an of us filthy 99%ers? Forgot the starving destitute children of our nation. theyre lazy little future criminals.

Your right i dont grasp it. I worked my ass off for what i have and if someone was to think themselves entitled to what i have simply because it isnt fair that they didnt get the same chances as me, well those people can fuck right off, i didnt get a trust fund or a house handed to me. i busted my ass and now i own several properties and im heavily invested in several profitable businesses.

ill just sounds like a whiney little bitch, regardless of what side of the fence he sits on.

@ltb sorry homie, but if you spend all the time focusing on what the 1% has, then you will miss the oppurtunities that present themselves. stop worrying about what mitt romney is doing adn focus on achieving your own goals. You have a likfe, a partner (wife/gf) a roof over your head adn food on your table. it might be hard to put those things there but you are still young. if you bust your ass and make the right descisions then you will have an easier life as you get older.

and you know what lucem, at the end of the day i am happy with my life. what have you done to make your life more positive lately?

Just to make it clear, this concept had very little to do with race, gender, or class.

Oh, and by stating that, LTB, you admit that we are not all equal and that some people need help just to get a fair chance in life.

I suppose I should have put some substance in that post other than snarky commentary. Hundreds of thousands of people in our (I suppose my country when I'm talking to you) have things infinitely worse than me. It's not about that. It's about the elitist ideal of not helping your fellow man I have a problem with. I have more than you, I'm better than you type logic doesn't do a damn thing for anyone. Give people the means to achieve what they're capable of. I have more than you, let me help you is how I feel. show them how to fish.

correct, but a state of inequality doesnt make equality impossible. If society worked toward achieving it, it could very well be made into reality.

Novo, simple people are always happier.

Plus, if you are so much happier than why are you so worried about me? Why do you got to assume fucked up things about anybody who angers you?

I, and many others, see just how fucked up the US system is. Truckers need a college degree now days in my country. Seriosly, all my classes had old people thst k+ ad to go to college just to continue working. I agree and disagree because ultimately focusing on what others are doing gets you no where yet people shouldn't take this unfair conditioning.

But it doesn't just apply to class. It's a very simple yet complicated concept. People are all different to an extent, we all have different tastes, different minds, different ideas, different short cummings, etc. People want different things out of life, if we are all equal then there are no losers or winners nobody is better than anybody at anything ever and we all get the same shit.

If you see a crippled man do you treat him the same as everybody else or do you treat him just a little bit better out of sympathy?

if you're talking equality in the purest sense of the term, yeah sure you're right. But common usage they way i've always heard or interpretted it is equal opportunity, the ability to go out and get yours. That's really what I'm arguing. just as iLL's post wasn't bashin. The concept of literal equality, it was taking half assed potshots at the less fortunate for wanting equal opportunities and rights. In my school of thought inequality stems largely from race, gender, and class. I'm a big supporter of social-conflict theory.

I treat him the same as everyone else, that being said, the way I treat people is how you would imagine "just a little bit better out of sympathy". If I have the means to help someone, scoot them along their path, do anything I can to make sure their day/life goes better.

Social conlict will always happen because people like to feel superior so they need a percieved inferior to do so. Just read what any troll says to people and even what people say in response to not only trolls but anybody who criticizes them. I try not to do the assuming bad shit about enemies because ultimately I shouldn't have to, I shouldn't need to believe people that I don't like are losers or failures to justify my existense.

See I didn't shit on those less fortunate. The equality believers are the quitters of the world. The people who failed just short of their goal because of the bump in the road.

Also those who accept a predestined life but want equality because it sounds nice.

Equality is an impossible dream sought after by simple beings.

Same here. Hence why I believe what I do, that being that everyone should be given a fair chance and a fair say. That's my concept of equality.

Give me more of a thought out response, something more than one vague sentence here and there. What's your definition of equality. Who are the "quitters" what's this insignificant "bump in the road"?

@ill - your still not talking about equality. its soemthing else entirely. your trying to compare a mountain to an anthill.

@lucem - i wasnt trying to diss homie, its more of a statement then anything else. call me simple, i dont mind. its a good life, i dont let shit sweat me. but then i dont have too.

@LTB - i am the same in regards to the cripple, i treat everyone one the same. i try to be a good person adn treat people well but i aint perfect. sometimes my ego gets the best of me adn i whole heartly apologise to anyone who is upset or offended by the things i say or do, buyt i will never change.

@topic - i do what i can for the less fortunate, i donate fresh produce to local soup kitchens, i paid for my lil sisters partner to get his truck liscense so he could get work. Also, australia is slowly heading that way with college degrees and shit like that, but the government tends to subsidize alot of that shit as tax right offs so it can be alot cheaper. mind it cost me about $4500 for my sisters partner to get his liscense with lessons and a MR ticket.

And i try to donate money, but i know how alot of these charities work and usually only 20 cents in a dollar will actually make it to whoever is supporting the charity. i donate a few thousand every year, but then i can also write it off for tax purposes so its all good.

the sad thing is he is essentially re-inforcing a negative stereotype of 'upper class' society. I know people in those upper class circles and its honestly only a small portion of people who think like that. At the same time people who have money are generally giant dicks, even though Australia doesnt ahve the 'american psycho' styled boys club.

Perhaps things are different in american becasue you champion the white collar man, where australia champions the underdog or the blue collar man.

Im really straight forward, if you want something bad enough you will work for it. teach a man to fish and all that.
