You’re wrong. It was intended as a joke. Although, the pope is supposed to be the person who God speaks through, so I don’t think he falls into the false idol category. I always took the no one shall worship false idols thing as no one shall praise anything but God. I’m not extremely religious, but I do have my own personal relationship with God. It has little to do with the church I was brought up in though. I’ve had problems with the catholic church since I was around 13 or so, when I started to see things differently, and started to question things that the church couldn’t/wouldn’t answer. Still, I’m quite sure if I said fucked up shit about the pope, I doubt I would get struck by lightning.

There are christians, muslims, jews, shintoist, hindus, atheist and whatever else out there who have committed the very same acts most people bash catholic priests for doing. What's the word i'm looking for here? Hypocrisy or another word?
Richard Dawkins who has 85,000 + followers and wrote the book The God Delusion. The person who wrote the book some of you probably became atheist after reading is nothing more than a religious lunatic.

Oh, pffff, I thought you were being serious. It just doesn't make sense to me, though.
I lost the little faith I had in religion when I questioned whether or not Lucifer is really evil. Turns out that all Lucifer has done was reject God. That is the unforgivable sin. You can rape, kill, torture, fuck kids, enslave whole races into living poor hopeless lives but the ultimate sin, the one thing that God can not forgive is rejection. It just seemed highly immoral to me, extremely evil to give the ultimate punishment to a being only for rejecting you as their lord. If you read Dante's Inferno the lowest levels of hell are reserved for blasphemers and those who have rejected God or worshiped the wrong God.In my world, during the time I believed, it was if you do right you will be awarded and if you do wrong you will go to hell, then to learn that it's more about giving your soul up to God and that he doesn't really care how righteous you are. Sort of like a stab in the back. So, do to other problems I had with religion, I just couldn't believe in any of it. I don't even believe that a God exists anymore. I guess that I never really actually believed in it, I just wanted to. Now, I do what I know to be right and if a God wants to punish me for living as righteous as I can then fuck him. I'd rather go to hell with with a clean conscious than go to heaven as a guilty slave.
Thelema and other occult beliefs seem to make more sense to me. A lot of people misinterpret the meaning of “Do What Thou Wilt”. They believe that it means that we should just do what ever we want with out worrying about consequences. It means that we need to find what we are meant to do, what makes us happy because when we find what makes us happy it will somehow create positive results.

First off, there are plenty of Christian preachers that do the same thing and get bashed.
Second, show proof of any Muslim, Jew, Shintoist, or Hindu of religious significance that uses their religious position to trick children into thinking that God wants them to fuck. If you can find numerous pieces of evidence that prove your claim than it's the Media's fault for only shedding light on the Priests.
Third, although it's not fair that every Priest is going to be stereotyped for the acts of what only some have done, you do have to admit that the number of Priests that do fuck children is a little too high. And the number just keeps on getting bigger and bigger.
I didn't include atheists in the list because atheists don't have titles that imply spiritual divinity like “Priest” or “Preacher” so atheists can't use their beliefs to fuck children. An atheist fucking a kid as equal to just a regular Christian fucking a child, it's evil but it's not the same as a Priest who uses religion to fuck children. People put more faith in a Priest than they do in just regular people because they actually believe that they are more divine than “regular” citizens. So when a Priest uses that trust to fuck their children it is going to spark an outrage.

I understand what you’re saying lucem, and I agree with you for the most part. I do believe in God though, that’s the only difference we have on this. I remember learning about Lucifer, it’s a sensitive subject in a catholic school. I got suspended for questioning how Satan can really hate and torture all the people in hell. If you did Satan’s work all your life, and spent your life praising him, wouldn’t he give you a reward in heaven similar to what God will give you in heaven? I was young and just asking an honest question, and since they couldn’t really answer it, they suspended me to make me look like a jackass for asking that question. That was a long time ago, I honestly don’t think hell is anywhere that anyone would ever want to be, that’s just my take on it. I’m not trying to make you believe what I do, whatever you or anyone else believes in spiritually is cool with me. Another point you bring up that I agree with is how you have to believe in God or you will go to hell. I never understood that either. If someone led a righteous life, and spent it helping people and being a selfless person, why send him to hell with the sinners? Say his parents were atheists, it couldn’t be his fault that he never found God, he was brought up to not believe. Same with saying babies who were never baptized have to spend eternity in limbo, it’s not the babies fault they died before their parents got around to baptizing them, they couldn’t even walk or talk yet. Why should they be held accountable? All these questions and quite a few more are the main reason I’ve fallen away from the church, but not from God. If there is a God, and I believe there is, he knows who I am and knows where I’m coming from. That’s the difference between me and the church. I absolutely one hundred per cent believe in God, I just don’t believe he’s an asshole.

none of those other bitches should get a pass, either. fuck children, get fucked up as thoroughly as possible. wheres the hypocrisy?
The person who wrote the book some of you probably became atheist after reading is nothing more than a religious lunatic.
if, by that, you mean the bible, you may be on to something.
speaking personally, im an agnostic, not an atheist. atheism is as centrally flawed as fundamentalism.

If the bible you are thinking of is The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins than people are lead into a delusion by religious lunatic.
Lucem don't sit back and play dumb. You know there's people of everything listed belief & disbelief up there who have molested, raped, murdered and etc etc. You want proof google it. Muslim child molesters, hindu child molesters, jewish molesters. It's not a ploy by a faith it's a disease of the brain. You know like a malignant tumor or alzhimer'z.
Oh and atheism does have “priests” & “preachers” who do spread their word in a way similiar to the aforementioned “titles”. And I hear about more teachers fucking younger students than the amount of catholic preachers you say believe to be doing it.

disease? nah, thats still letting the scumbags off the hook. no question, though, the scumbags permeate every belief system there is.

atheists are lying to themselves, too, about as much as the deluded [if thats supposed to mean what im guessing it means].
and teachers? far too often, they are the least capable and knowledgable people in your community. so, no surprise that they would also be immoral.
im not bashing catholicism. i could, i suppose, but then, i could bash any religion, if i felt like it.
no, im bashing the incredibly fucked up fucks that abuse kids [sexually or otherwise], and the rat bastards that work their butts off to prevent justice for the kids.

I have no qualm with any religious literature based on stories so long as the message is respect others or something along those lines. The God Delusion book is apiece of written ignorance, written to encourage people to denounce a faith and follow anothers way. That's saying fuck your free will to believe what you want to believe follow my words. That's not living right that's living wrong.
I would consider it a disease because you can attempt and possibly cure a disease. Some people are inflicted with something that effects a certain part of the brain that causes them to do some vile things.

thats really far off from the definition of disease. for a layman, though, its understandable.
Some people are inflicted with something that effects a certain part of the brain that causes them to do some vile things.
some, perhaps.
but a relatively small percentage. most of them are just vile people.
[your favorite english teacher here… you most likely meant afflicted, as opposed to inflicted.]
did you read this delusion thing? sounds like some dumb shit, fodder for the tv children, but im just going on your opinion, so, if you havent read it…

First off, I never denied that people of different beliefs fuck children, I said that there is no proof of people from different beliefs using their religious status to fuck children.
Second, no there are no atheists that claim divinity and use their “divinity” to trick children into giving up sex.
Third, teachers are not atheist preachers, there are tons of religious teachers and teachers are also under the same scrutiny that priests are under for the child fucking.

How am I lying to myself? I just don’t believe a god exists, point blank. I’m not denying, like I’ve said many times, that it is possible that a God could exist, but I just don’t believe one exists. I guess you can call my agnostic since I admit that I don’t know, but I still don’t believe one exists.

lucem:
atheists have a strong tendency to act as if their beliefs trump the objective reality that we live, as well as any other beliefs that dont match their own. this is precisely the same thing that a hyper-religious wacko does.
judging by your last sentence, lucem, you are also agnostic, not atheist. i would advise that, for claritys sake, you dont refer to yourself as an atheist. unless, of course, you decide that your belief is somehow external to your own mind. in which case, you are deluding yourself.

I never said teachers are atheist. I said I hear about more teachers fucking student as opposed to hearing about preachers fucking children. There are atheist who preach their word who do try and convert people. There are also atheist who've molested children. Wonder if they felt any guilt? People who fuck children are under scrutiny not the practiced faith. There are cops, psychologist. lawyers, graphic designers, doctors and so much more that do vile acts such as the “child fucking” as you like to put it.
I even said it's not a ploy by a faith it's an affliction on a person.

You do understand why Priests are getting the heat of the fire though, right? They are put up on a moral pedestal and when people find out that they are doing something like fucking kids it's pretty shocking.

If you don't believe that your beliefs trump other beliefs than you don't really believe in your belief, if that makes sense. Of course I think my belief is truer than other beliefs, that's why I believe it. I just don't think that I'm better for having my beliefs and I accept the possibility that I could be wrong. I think I lean towards atheism way too much to just consider myself agnostic. One belief that I do hold up as truth is the belief that man does not need a God.

I think Lucem is bi-belief curious. He doesn't know what the fuck to lean towards. Teachers, cops, doctors are put up on a high moral pedestal as well. Cops & doctors are meant to help but take your kid to a doctor and your kids at risk or a cop at school fucks your kid. Your kid getting groped by a teacher they should be teaching not touching. Do you understand why what you think is true is partially incorrect? The moral pedestal isn't just for the people of a faith you hate.
Lucem a bi-belief curious hyper-religious wacko.
