I think Lucem is bi-belief curious. He doesn't know what the fuck to lean towards. Teachers, cops, doctors are put up on a high moral pedestal as well. Cops & doctors are meant to help but take your kid to a doctor and your kids at risk or a cop at school fucks your kid. Your kid getting groped by a teacher they should be teaching not touching. Do you understand why what you think is true is partially incorrect? The moral pedestal isn't just for the people of a faith you hate.
Lucem a bi-belief curious hyper-religious wacko.
I just call my self an agnostic atheist, to agnostic to be an atheist yet to atheist to be an agnostic.
This is a country where people are mainly Christian or Catholic. People put Priests on higher pedestals than teachers, cops or doctors. Priests are looked at as divine people, people of God. God is supposed to represent everything that is righteous. So when somebody who lives a life devoted towards something that's supposed to be righteous then uses the trust they are given from that to fuck children, it's going to make a much bigger buzz than a doctor or cop or teacher. Teachers are starting to get the same reputation, especially P.E. teachers and high school coaches, but they aren't nearly as respected as Priests are. Cops have always been looked at as dirty. Doctors, I never heard a story about a doctor fucking a kid, but I wouldn't doubt it.
I'm not saying that I hate Priests, and I'm not saying that Priests should get all the heat or even be stereotyped. I'm just giving my theory on why Priests get all the shit for it.
I wouldn't call myself bi-belief curious, just bi-belief if you are referring to the fact that I'd call my self an agnostic atheist.
I'm definitely not hyper-religious, I don't belong to any religion.
I might be a wacko, or maybe just strange, then again these days everybody thinks they are wacko, probably because we live in a society that tells it's people they are wacko over stupid shit.

“somebody who lives a life devoted towards something that's supposed to be righteous then uses the trust they are given from that to fuck children” see that's saying they're using their trust as a spiritual leader to commit the vile act. I'm saying it's them having an affliction in their head causing them to commit the vile act. When a cop commits a crime, a teacher doesn't teach or a doctor neglects a patient they're failing their moral standing. The higher pedestal is for everyone who can and will have some form of enrichment or positive impact on you.
“I'm just giving my theory on why Priests get all the shit for it.” Theories are the leading cause misunderstandings.

you have it wrong, theories lead to solutions for misunderstandings. that is to say, the scientific method, using theories, followed by effort. real effort, not just deciding the answer ahead of time. then, it isnt a theory, its just shit you made up.
most people in america dont really know what a theory is.
by the way [and, i hesitate to point this out, since its the kind of thing that gives ammunition to the dips that trash you], the 'affliction' stance isnt very compatible with the point-of-view youve expressed, at great length, in the gordy-bashing threads.

the two are mutually exclusive.
an atheist declares that there is no god, flat out.
an agnostic holds that any declaration regarding the existence of god[s] cannot be proven, and is therefore unreliable. this includes the atheists.
saying youre an agnostic atheist, is like saying youre a protestant hindu. actually, for all i know, you can be a protestant and a hindu without contradiction. change that to, 'protestant catholic'.
between that, and the 'believing your beliefs' statement you made earlier, i think you are in the moral quagmire that i found myself in, back in high school, or around then. you might wanna get away from philosophy for a while. read up on ontology, then return to philosophy, then examine god and religion.
you two ninjas are the shiznit. i say this, because the fact that youre willing to put this much thought into it at all, puts you miles ahead of most people, and even further ahead of most juggalos. if the three of us had some kind of roundtable or panel discussion with a proper audience, we could bag a nobel prize or some shit.
awfully paranoid, arent you?

“you have it wrong, theories lead to solutions for misunderstandings.” that's what I tried to say but uh drinking yea.
During that gordy conflict I thought it was just somebody doing it just to do it. Then I found out from somebody, who does alot of studying on the human brain, that there are things that manipulate, effect and cause some people to commit things they wouldn't naturally do if a terminal or breaking point wasn't the cause.

Scientists do think that eventually we will be able to fix the part of the brain that causes the impulses…Essentially re-wiring it. I personally think they shouldn't get a free pass either regardless

Random observation:
Yes, sometimes intelligent threads here turn into a mess, but we shouldn't forget the random funny threads that turn into intelligent convo's.
There are some smart Juggalos on here. Individually, making legitimate, intelligent statements, that contribute overall. This is why the hate doesn't stop me from hanging around here.

I could come off as a hypocrite with this statement, but not really…
I enjoy getting into the minds of the haters when they follow up their posts with responses; Although, I know it's a double edged sword I”m playing with. Too many of them is annoying but just enough of them, is an evil necessity. You can't have a positive without a negative, after all.

Ill, I wasn't saying that religion causes pedophilia, I was stating my theory on why priests are the ones that get stereotyped while nobody else does, because they betray the people that trust them.
They don't fuck children because of religion, they just use their religious status to tell children that this is what “god wants”.
Religion is probably the biggest thing in people's lives, of course priests are going to be held up to higher standards then doctors or teachers or cops.
When you die, do you have a teacher or cop or doctor read your eulogy?
When you get married, do you have a teacher, doctor or cop read you your vows?
Do you have police, teachers, or doctors bless your child when they are born?
Do you go to teachers or doctors or cops for confessionals?
If somebody kills a cop, it's praised by tons of citizens. If somebody kills a doctor, it's just another murder, same with killing a teacher. If you kill a priest you are considered to be pure evil.
Do you really wonder why priests get the most attention for child rape? Is it fair, no, but it's the way it works.
I can't tell if you really think that I believe religion causes child rape or if you are just trying to troll me as usual.
Scruffy, I guess I'd have to be agnostic then, thing is that I know that I don't know if there is a god or not, I just believe that there isn't one.
I already have a philosophy that matches me perfectly, Thelema. Do As Thou Wilt Is The Whole Of The Law. Love Is The Law, Love Under Will, There Is No Law Beyond It.

opinions [with a capital o]:
– i dont care for the smorgasbord approach, picking out what you like and disregarding the rest, that thelemitists tend to adopt.
– crowley was a flake. a fairly intelligent, charismatic flake, but still a flake. especially if you note how much of his philosophy was geared toward him busting his nut. 'how to succeed', indeed…
– atheists who are also crowleyites crack me up, since there are a number of god figures. thelema is polytheistic. just like ancient rome. and i dont accept the multiple metaphors argument. 'when we say ra, we mean the inner eye inside all of us' and shit like that. thats a cop out.
– put two crowleyites in a room, and within three minutes, they will disagree with each other. an hour later, they are enemies.
okay, im done talkin shit. [for now… heh heh]
im assuming you have at least a passing familiarity with discordianism and such. ever read r a wilsons stuff? also a flake, probably twice the flake that crowley was, but more interesting. better writer.
i will leave with one of my all-time favorite philosophy quotes:
'it is inherently foolish to follow a belief system invented by another person.'

There is a base core for what we believe in, and the rest is up to the person to interpret because people are supposed to look into themselves and know what they need to do to better themselves. The book of the law has parts that are just complete gibberish to me, yet it has parts that really pop out because they perfectly reflect something that I know I need to do to improve myself.
Crowley might have just been writing a bunch of stupid shit while going on drug binges and such, but regardless I still gained something from his teachings. His beliefs are based upon self awareness. Knowing yourself and doing what you know will ultimately result in your life's positivity.
No it's not a cop out. He's a very cryptic person, and yeah, a lot of his Gods are used for metaphors. Some believe they are real entities, I don't. “The Thelemic theological system utilizes the divinities of various cultures and religions as personifications of specific divine, archetypal and cosmic forces.” I mean, majority of us are atheist for a reason. Trust me, that is one thing that people tend to argue that I have always provided proof of them being wrong on.
I've never seen that to be honest. I haven't met too many Thelemites. Same could be said about anybody though, that's a stereotype that you are going to place on all Thelemites sort of how when a juggalo kills somebody people stereotype us all as murders and then the FBI stereotypes us all and puts us on a gang list.
I don't follow the belief system to be fair, I only call myself a Thelemite because the beliefs taught in Thelema are the same beliefs that I have. Nothing in that religion contradicts what I believe and majority of the core beliefs are equivalent to my own core beliefs. Sort of like how I only call myself a juggalo because I like ICP, the title description matches me, I have Thelemic beliefs so why not just call myself a Thelemite. I mean, If I was going to just be a follower of beliefs I'd probably have went with Laveyan Satanism, but the beliefs in Laveyan Satanism did not match my own so I dumped it.
I mean, if you haven't heard my rants I obviously have my own philosophies that I follow that I don't think Thelema has ever taught.
Personally, I've always really questioned whether or not to call my self a Thelemite, I read The Book Of The Law, I admire Crowley's work, but do I really need to be Thelemic? I've never really learned anything from Thelema I didn't already know, it only made certain things clearer to me as well as put many of my beliefs into words. I guess Thelema sometimes just gives me that extra push, to strive to be or do something better. It is my motivation. Certain quotes inspire me, the symbolism and the text has it's own meaning for me. Being Thelemic isn't about following, it's more about leading. That's why it's meant to be interpreted by the individual, it's not telling you how to live or what to do, it just says do what you do, don't blindly follow things, and don't let stupid things and stupid situations try to prevent you from doing what you do.
iLL, that is agreeable. I don't think people should blame ever teacher or every priest. I bet there are way more good priests than there are pedophile priests, it's just that the media puts all the bad shit on blast while the good shit gets ignored so we don't hear about priests that do really great things, we only hear about the ones fucking our children. It also doesn't help that we live in a society where we define each other by our titles rather than our individual selves. Priests are pedophiles, cops are crooked and politicians are evil, the teachings of society.
