Lil Peep and OmenXIII’s “in the bedroom, i confess” Finally Hits Streaming Platforms

June 17, 2015—a young, completely unsigned Gustav Ahr compiled five tracks he had been working on over email and threw them onto SoundCloud under the moniker Lil Peep. That project, in the bedroom, i confess, was his very first collaborative EP, made alongside underground pioneer OmenXIII. While the record quickly vanished from official channels and spent a decade living strictly in the shadows of bootlegs and fan archives, the Lil Peep estate has officially cleared the project, bringing it to major streaming platforms today as a pristine piece of emo rap history.
Sonically and visually, it is safe to say this stands as one of the absolute darkest, most sinister releases in Lil Peep’s entire catalog. Heavily influenced by OmenXIII’s brooding, shadow-drenched aesthetic, the EP leans into murky, lo-fi production reminiscent of early underground phonk and gothic rap rather than the guitar-heavy pop-punk samples that defined Peep’s later mainstream era. As seen in the official platform drop, the re-release features the original tracklist—including underground staples “ride”, “boba on the rocks”, and “blacked out”—alongside their follow-up track “family” tacked on as a bonus cut.
Back when these tracks were recorded, Peep was strictly using GarageBand in his bedroom and didn’t even know how to mix or layer his own vocals yet. His delivery here is cold, unpolished, and ghostlike, buried beneath the heavy bass. OmenXIII’s mentorship during these sessions gave a teenage Lil Peep the confidence to dive headfirst into the scene. Eleven years later, hearing these raw, foundational tracks officially on streaming is a beautiful, haunting reminder of where a generation-defining sound first began.
