    Things of note:

    “Pitch Dark” is a straight banger 🔥🤡 🔥 🤡 🔥

“No Friends” was a hard listen.. not that it’s a bad song but I just feel for the man. I really hope J bounces back and stays clean this time. I know first hand how hard addiction can be and how it’s so much easier to slip into old habits than it is to keep working on yourself at times. Here’s to hoping this album is a release of lot that negative energy he’s been holding onto for so long and moving forward!

“The Stiff” is a fun, goofy little diddy ala “Found a Body” with a bouncey hook that’s cringey but just enough so that it’s still fun.. so bad it’s good rings true here

“Horrendous Ways (Chapters 1-3)” makes me think of “Gangsta Code” meets “Vomit” in a way.. the flow for “GC” and the storytelling “Vomit” it’s not the worst but the transitions between stories throw it off a bit, they have a lot going on in a short time

“The Hurter” got a clowny ass carnival beat that sounds like something that was left over from “Wicked Vic” which is fine by me cuz that EP slaps hard af

The album as a whole is pretty good in my book. I like J taking a couple risks and making music for himself. “Some Good Pussy” may have ruffled some chicken feathers, but I still found it silly and catchy enough to show some non-juggalo friends, even just to show them the shit going on in our clowny little slice of the world.

This is his 4th full length solo album. Violent J (2008) and The Shining (2009) are different albums.

‘Wizard of the Hood’ is considered to be Violent J’s debut EP. So yep, still three solo LP’s :) Psychopathic Records advertised ‘Bloody Sunday’ as the 3rd too https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g2i6aeCL3nw

I’m not counting the EP. Like Discogs, I count the 2008 album Violent J as a separate album than The Shining. They are literally different albums. Those two plus the Wizard LP (2003) and SBS (2023) sounds like four too me. Psychopathic has always played a bit fast and loose with the details, they probably don’t count the ’08 S/T album because it was never for sale and doesn’t have a catalog number. It’s not a product you can buy so they don’t give a shit. Still, facts are facts and Violent J has released 4 full length solo albums.

I was agreeing with you on the 2008 OG version of “The Shining”, just mistakenly thought you were referring to “Wizard of the Hood” which is still classified as an EP, even with the collectors bonus tracks. I don’t count the audio book, even with discogs placing it under Violent J albums. https://www.discogs.com/artist/328626-Violent-J I only count “Violent J” 2008, “The Shining” 2009, and now “Bloody Sunday”.

It’s a big ol’ nope from me. For me, the singles released are the low points and there are some ok tracks on there but I can’t get on with this new flow he’s been using the last couple of years and his voice is so fucked, it distracts me. Respect to him for experimenting with new sounds but the choice of beats and the flow kill it for me.

He needs to hang it up with the singing too.

Not for me but I hope everyone loves it.

Right? This guy writes about every bedroom artist and screaming metal band like they’re the second coming of Jesus.

Honestly, this would have gotten my $50 for the album in PSY Vault if VJ didn’t release all of the singles ahead of time for me to hear how trash they are.

Man, that was so disappointing. Easily J’s worst solo record. Stale flows, absolutely terrible choruses. Somethings In My Room is literally the only good track.
The beats are all great, J’s high pitched “OOOH” voice is dumb as fuck and he can’t sing. So fucking cringe.

I definitely could see the album not being to everyone’s taste, but I dig it more than I was expecting to. I like it quite a bit more than The Shining. I dig pretty much every track with the exception of A Harrowing Time which is just skippable

Pitch Dark, Scatterbrain 2, and Something’s in My Room stand out to me
