   I get what you’re saying, but it’s like this. J n Shaggy don’t even come out as or use Dark Lotus, and THEY own the shit, started the shit. Personally, if J or Shaggy pulled this stunt, I’d think it’s wack too, but at least it’s theirs to do that. But they don’t do that bc they know this is wack af. Twz trying to make a quick buck off sombody elses shit. It’s all they know now. Just 1 of the reasons why I can’t even respect them anymore.

   You can’t own an idea. They all contributed to the music and the create the albums. We don’t know who came up with which ideas and what specific parts are attributed to who. It’s like saying I’ve cube can’t do a version of Express Yourself because Dr Dre owns NWA.

   I agree that it’s super whack but you can’t say they don’t have a right to use their own intellectual property. 4/6 of the member of that group want to keep it alive. I don’t see the other 2 doing anything fresh or exciting these days, for the fans so why not?

   If I contributed so heavily to something and was proud of it, id also want to keep it alive but I’d probably do it with a bit more class and try to make it feel less cheap.

    If you want to get pedantic about it. The intellectual property belongs to all 6 members. The concept of dark lotus belongs to no one though. If it were intricate and unique, maybe they could argue it but it’s a rap group who paint crosses on their face and talk about spooky shit.

    I could be wrong, but I couldve swore that in either Behind the Paint, or somewhere I read J talking about how Dark Lotus was his concept. Once again tho, I might be wrong.

    IF this is true, I’d be shocked if he/psychopathic records doesn’t own “Dark Lotus”. The last DL album that featured everybody who left, was still published under Psychopathic Records. Once again, if memory serves correct, there’s not a single mention or even a shout-out or credit to MNE in the last DL album. Again tho I could be wrong.
    Now none of that doesn’t mean much, but logically speaking, if twz or anybody had any ownership in the actual IP, then they would have made official Dark Lotus music/merch. They have yet to do that. They have come out w that knock off “Rydas” and “Lotus” shit, but never the official shit as we all know it to be. That tells me they do not own it.

    Also I don’t deny their contributions to DL, but just bc you contribute to something doesn’t give you the right to do what you want w it either.
    ICP made the Great Milenko, but they don’t own it.

    I get what you’re saying, I fr fr do, but myself and others just see this as a huge bitch move on their part. For yrs and yrs we heard them whine about how they had to leave, but yet they can’t seem to do their own thing and keep clinging on to the past, and these collabo projects that ICP were apart of. I feel they want to “keep it alive” bc money. That’s my opinion.

    All in all I guess none of us knows who really own “Dark Lotus” but my money is on that twz has no ownership at all in it. Idk what the compensation was for everybody but ICP for all the recorded DL albums, but seeing as all DL albums were published under Psy, ICP may be the only ones making any residual money from album sales.
    I know this was long, my bad but I think that covers it.
