Violent J Writes Heartfelt Tribute to Renowned Makeup Artist Laney Chantal

Laney Chantal provided phenomenal makeup, costume designs, and music videos  for many talented recording artists such as Lil Nas X,  Marilyn Manson, Slipknot,  Wednesday 13, Smashing Pumpkins, Dana Dentata, King 810,  and even Psychopathic Records. As many of you know, she unexpectedly  tragically passed away on Halloween  at the young age of 33. And tonight during the Witching Hour, the Duke of the Wicked, Violent J, has published a heartfelt tribute in honor of the extraordinary Laney Chantal (RIP).

From Violent J to Laney Chantal:

“Laney was my Angel Faced Miracle. I feel completely dead inside without her. I feel like 75 percent of what was good about my life right now was just ripped from me and stolen forever Halloween night. She loved me more than every woman I’ve ever dated combined. She was so incredibly talented, witty, funny, soft, warm, angelic and amazing. The entire time we were together I felt a guilty ping constantly ringing because she was so special and I couldn’t fathom what she ever saw in me. She was adored by tens of thousands, her beauty with impeccable and her touch was beyond description and her talents were just absolutely and undeniably unfuckwitable. I simply can’t say enough about how amazing Laney was to me. We had just 3 arguments that lead to short temporary split ups and each one only brought us closer together. She could battle as hard as she loved me and I couldn’t help but respect that. She was a celeb and was recognized everywhere we went. She made me feel larger than life clinging on to me the way she did weather in public or alone it had the same effect. I was a giant with her on my arm. Even though her sudden death right now feels as if it’s left me with more than half my soul devoured the bottom line remains… to actually be able to spend a year and a half of my life with her being loved and loving such an emmaculate human being as Laney Chantal was, ultimately is a monster sized blessing and an enormous gift from God, so how can I ever complain now that the high ride is over and I’ve suddenly been slammed back down into the regular reality of life? I got to enjoy the time we had together which was probably the greatest period of my life, so I’ve got zero complaints. I’m forever grateful for having had the experience more than anything else. I love you Laney babe for ever and ever, always and forever…. VJ “

-Shrug- Perhaps. Never gets old, and still applies very well 23 years later.

Y’know though, in all bad as it is and as much as it sucks with what happened, when you decide to OD, you don’t just necessarily set out to hurt yourself inadvertantly, but in the end it hurts those around you the most with the outcome. Just wish people thought of that before doing what they do. Whether it be Laney, or hell even Dave Brockie as another example (Hail Oderus). Sadly, I see it as selfish in a way..but what can ya do, right?

How fucking insensitive are you? She didn’t “decide” to OD, as you erroneously accused her of doing…

I hope whenever you lose somebody you love, some fucktard like you comes along to tell you it was their fault and how selfish they are.

No dude, what’s “selfish” is everyone that person knows expecting them to continue on with a life of pain and suffering just so everyone else doesn’t have to experience any hurt. Perhaps try putting yourself in their mindset and try to imagine just how excruciating day to day life must really be to consider something as permanent as suicide…

BUT SHE DIDN’T EVEN COMMIT SUICIDE! It was an overdose. And those rarely happen intentionally, save for a small minority. And even then, go back to your insignificant little existence and keep dropping out of date burns from shows and movies Way past their prime.

Lost my best friend to an overdose years ago, it was his fault. You choose to do drugs, you take the risk. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Acting like addicts are helpless and don’t have the self control to put one foot in front of the other is enabling them…

Only children think that telling people they don’t have a life, is a good insult.
