Cypress Hill and Sublime With Rome to Perform Drive-In Concerts

Due to the recent pandemic, one growing trend is the introduction of drive-in concerts; thus, fans are distantly separated and in their own vehicles, while the main artist performs from afar. Previously, the events were mainly by major pop acts, some of them experimental, but now more artists are embracing the idea. One such artist is thrash metal band GWAR, whom recently announced two shows in Virginia, in which the previous post can be found by clicking here.

Now, two more acts are attempting the drive-in experience: hip-hop mainstays Cypress Hill and cult favorites Sublime With Rome. Both acts are holding their events at a drive-in location called the Rubidoux in Riverside, California, and both acts will be holding an early show and a late night show.

Cypress Hill’s show will be on Saturday September 26th. Sublime With Rome’s show will be on Saturday October 17th. The price of admission will be per car, and not per person; however, per the venue’s rules, cars can not be overpacked, and individuals are counted on a seatbelt basis. Tickets can be found by clicking here. In addition, Cypress Hill is playing a separate drive-in show at the Ventura County Fairgrounds in Ventura, California, on Friday September 25th. More information can be found by clicking here. It is speculated that both venues (Rubidoux and Ventura County Fairgrounds) are hoping to create a series with these drive-in shows.

Cypress Hill released their latest album titled Elephants on Acid in late 2018, and charted in numerous countries, including the Billboard 200. It also saw the return of DJ Muggs, whom produced the entirety of the album, unlike the group’s previous effort. Sublime With Rome released the album Blessings last year, as its main single “Wicked Heart” became a minor hit on the charts.

With more artists attempting the socially distant shows, there is a strong possibility that more acts are eager to follow. The financial benefits and overall enjoyment is yet to be determined.
