ICP’s albums ranked by WWeek.com

A newspaper/website covering all things in the Portland area has taken it upon themselves to rank All 13 ICP albums from worst to best!  This isn’t some negative take on the wicked clowns, but rather an honest perspective from an admitted non-Juggalo.  The journalist even goes so far as to say that Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope may be the “most underrated rappers in hip-hop!

You can see the full article including standout tracks from each album, and the reasoning behind their rankings here:

All 13 ICP Albums Ranked @ WWeek.com

The rankings are all over the place.  He ranks The Great Milenko at the #12 spot, which I’m sure will ruffle a few Juggalo feathers.  But check the list out, and let us know where you think he’s right, and where you think he fucked up.  Either way, much props and respect to Walker MacMurdo for taking this on with an open mind!

this guy is far more concerned with appearing to know about music, than actually knowing about music.
aside from referencing an assortment of semi-obscure bands in an effort to look all worldly and shit, he also refers to icps shit as ‘pop’ ten fuckin times.
so no, he didnt get it, at all. but he can write juuust well enough to make a sucker think he does.
nice try fella, but all you did was illustrate why nobody ever brought you in to our world: you clearly dont fuckin belong in it.
plus, his rankings come off like he rolled dice to determine them. and thats bein generous.
hey, at least he didnt take time out to slam juggalos specifically. but then, if he did write about us, i doubt hed have anything flattering to say. might even get himself hurt.

J has referred to his own music as horror pop at least once before.

I agree with ScottieD that the author deserves props for having an open mind. When I’m talking to non-Juggalos, it’s easy to get them to have some appreciation for what Juggalos are about, but not so much the music itself. There are more and more positive portrayals of Juggalos in the media, but ICP are still the most hated band in the world. It’s not without balls for the guy to call J and Shaggs the most underrated rappers in hip hop, his people are not going to think it’s cool that he said that.

That said his rankings are crap, but he probably only listened to the albums once or twice each so what do you expect. There was a thread on the board here about what two ICP albums you’d most recommend, and while obviously opinions varied there was a lot more agreement than I would have expected that the two albums would be Milenko and Riddle Box. I completely agre. I would put Ringmaster, Jeckel Brothers, and Missing Link Found a little behind those two, and everything else ICP has done well behind those five.

This is a well-written article, the author actually listened to the records as well as many others for the comparisons. Every one will have their own order of favorites.

What a waste of time that review was. This guy draws the worst comparisons possible. Clearly a dude who might have skimmed through the albums 30 seconds per song at best then wrote that shitty ass review in even less time than that. Enough about him…. 1.Riddlebox 2.Ringmaster 3.Milenko 4.Hellz Pit 5.Carinval of Carnage
6.J Broz 7.Bizaar/bizzar….. and the rest are tied for 8.

I thought it was an enjoyable read because I found his perspective refreshing, even though I don’t agree with a lot of what he said he had a unique opinion I hadn’t really seen before. His favourite card is the same as mine but it’s for different reasons which I also found interesting.
On another note, I have found most non-Juggalos I know seem to like songs off Bizaar/Bizzar, The Tempest and Bang Pow Boom. They seem to prefer the upbeat pop or rock style of ICP rather than the horror story style.

once in twenty-sumn years, versus ten times in one hack article.
anyway, my hangup isnt so much his interpretations, its that he is a clear dilettante tryin to fool the reader into thinkin hes now hipped to it. he aint.
okay, fine, he wrote an article about icp that didnt include the words ‘hillbillies’ or ‘greasepainted’. good for him, but its still wack.
having said that, if that shit brings us one good new juggalo, itll be totally worth its salt.

I have no idea if this person actually took the time to listen to these albums or if he just skimmed through the tracks. If he did listen to them, it was probably only once. However, I love when people listen to a decent amount of ICP, but make sure to let everyone know that they aren’t a juggalo for fear of being judged. “Oh yea I love every ICP album and know the lyrics really well BUT DEAR GOD I AM NOT A JUGGALO!!!!!!! OH WHAT COULD BE WORSE THEN CLAIMING TO BE A JUGGALO!????” Usually these people just need to actually see them in the flesh and experience clown love and then they fully understand ICP and what juggalos are about, thus feeling more comfortable claiming it and wanting to belong. I’ve even had people have the nerve to tell me “no dude, you’re not a juggalo, you just like ICP, juggalos are white trash douche bags. Go look up some youtube videos and watch that episode of workaholics and you’ll see.” Yes, you know everything about juggalos from the media, but I know nothing from the 50+ juggalo shows i’ve been to and my 150+ psychopathic records collection.
