Violent J breaks down “The First Six” box set to Rolling Stone

A story on The First Six box set has been in the works by Rolling Stone for several months now.  I have been pretty hype to see it, but honestly thought that it had fallen by the wayside since it wasn’t out yet.  Today, RollingStone.com decided to release this detailed interview with Violent J…LONG after The First Six has been sold out at HatchetGear.

Journalist Nick Murray discusses each card with Violent J starting off where the Dark Carnival began with the Carnival of Carnage.  The interview begins as follows:

From RollingStone.com:

Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope are some of pop’s most unlikely heroes: self-proclaimed wicked clowns who built an empire rapping the most gruesome stories they — or anyone else — could think up. The pair, better known as Insane Clown Posse, are usually remembered for their intimidating face-paint and intense fans, the Juggalos. Musically, however, their greatest accomplishment is the so-called “first deck” of Joker’s Card LPs, a seven-album cycle that introduces, plunges the depths of and ultimately reveals the secret behind a mythical allegory called the Dark Carnival.

“The Dark Carnival is our religion,” Violent J tells Rolling Stone, shortly after the release of The First Six, a box set compiling the entire deck. “It’s talking about serial killers and the killing of racist people and the killing of pedophiles, and somehow the bottom line is magically apparent to Juggalos.”

The group began to outline this world on 1992’s Carnival of Carnage, the debut LP that introduced them to Detroit’s underground rap community. By the time they brought the series to a shocking (even by their standards) close, Insane Clown Posse had become notorious around the country. Here, J takes us through the entire unlikely journey, sharing the wild stories and wilder symbols behind each card. It isn’t always simple: “If the Dark Carnival and the Juggalos could be explained that easy,” he says. “It wouldn’t be half as magical as it is.”

They then dive into ICP’s career breaking it down card-by-card.   Check out the rest of the interview by clicking right here!

i hope he does something about that ingrown toenail.
seriously, if left untended, that could cause him a lot of discomfort when walking.
    i worry about it often.

not a helluva lot i can do about it, though.
dude can afford food, hes gonna eat food when he wants food. the vast majority of people in america are exactly the same, including most everybody talkin bout how fat whoever is.
if i could get fat, id probably be fat. assumin i could afford food.
but since it takes me a month of sheer gluttony to gain five pounds, im not gettin very fat.

Funny. seems Rolling Stone is expecting trouble from their bloggers on this story. If you look on the surrounding unrelated stories, the comments are attached to the story page and when you go on this story on RS the comments are tucked away on a separate, unseen page you have to click on. Hmmmm.
