Before I post this article, YES I do realize that this is an old article. It’s just one that I don’t recall seeing before. A website called PasteMagazine.com put out a list of 10 “Masked” musicians, and explained why they hide behind these made-up personas. On the list are groups and artists such as KISS, Slipknot, Daft Punk, and of course, GWAR. Whoever made up the list had probably the least to say about ICP, but here it is anyways:
5. Insane Clown Posse: Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope
Real Identity: Joseph Bruce and Joseph Utsler
Origin: The mythology of ICP centers around the Dark Carnival, a type purgatory in which souls are sent to be evaluated based on their individual actions before they proceed to Heaven or Hell.
Reasons to Hide: Scary clown makeup is badass, right? Just ask any Juggalo.
