Wrestling tributes by musicians article mentions ICP!

There’s an article that must have fallen through the cracks in all of the articles that we’ve posted lately.  The website AVClub.com put together a list of musicians who have given props to the “sport” of professional wrestling.  This list includes Lil Wayne, Los Straitjackets, Killer Mike, and of course the Insane Clown Posse!  Just to save you a link click, here’s everything they said about ICP:

Insane Clown Posse’s Juggalo Championship Wrestling
No musicians have contributed more to pro wrestling than Detroit’s greasepaint-wearing juggalo dons. Before making it in music, Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope participated in a makeshift backyard wrestling organization. By the end of the ’90s, they had competed in all three major American companies—the World Wrestling Federation, World Championship Wrestling, and Extreme Championship Wrestling—while also taking themselves to lesser-known independent promotions. However, they have much more talent as promoters than they do performers. ICP created and still sustains Juggalo Championshit Wrestling (the crucial T later changed to P), a particularly wild and violent company that run shows intermittently throughout the country and books all manner of talent. By all indications, ICP have an incredibly solid reputation within the wrestling industry itself, as they’re known for being generous and professional when paying off talent. (This happens much less often than you’d expect.) JCW recently stopped being the only wrestling promotion in the States led by a famous musician as Billy Corgan launched his own Resistance Pro Wrestling in 2011. Perhaps we’ll finally be able to experience that ICP/Smashing Pumpkins collaboration we all deserve.
