It was officially announced today that Slipknot would be putting on their own summer festival!  So far, it’ll be a 1 day festival taking place in 2 different cities, and featuring performances by Slipknot, Deftones, Lamb Of God, Deathlok, Serj Tankian, the Urge, Cannibal Corpse, and more.  So ICP has been doing this for a dozen years now, and more groups / artists are putting on their own fests.  What makes this newsworthy?  Check out their description of the event:

Among the activities the festival is offering as part of its “dark carnival experience” are circus big-top tents, pillars of fire, amusement park rides, burlesque performers, firebreathers, stilt walkers, drum circles made of junkyard cars and graffiti walls. The two shows will also debut a Slipknot museum.

Sound a little bit familiar? lol.  I know that the ninja that submitted this recently asked Corey Taylor if he’d ever consider playing the Gathering of the Juggalos when he was in Dallas for a solo tour date.  His answer to my homie was “it’s a big liability”.  Apparently way bigger a liability than throwing a fest of your own.  Still, I’m not gonna front.  I’d love to check that whole scene out.  I wouldn’t miss the Gathering for it, but if anyone happens to go there this August, let us know how it is!
