November 10, 2008 in the House of Blues in Cleveland, Ohio was blown up and off of the map by the Snake with Batwings, yep you guessed it, Tech N9ne and the Strictly Strange Tour rolled through the city leaving a wake of musical destruction in their path. This tour marked an important part for Strange Music’s presence in the Cleveland area, it was strictly Strange. That means that it wasn’t a collaboration tour like Strange Noize or any other type of tour they’ve embarked on, it was everyone solely on that label representing what they did best.

First up taking a crack at the mic and at the crowd was the team of Killa C and the Liquid Assassin, Grave Plott. Mostly kicking tracks off of their Strange Music debut, The Plott Thickens, they also were kicking older tracks released independently Dirty Thug style. I personally don’t really like their style, although L.A. can flow quick as fuck and both are good performers when they want to be. I’ve seen them before on tour with blaze and I just felt that their performance on the Strictly Strange Tour was way better. They were more interactive with each other and the rest of the crowd which had made for a better show, in my opinion. Soon enough their time was done and it was time for the next act.

Stepping up to the plate to crack out their set was Prozak and his entourage of cameramen- who knows what they were doing- possibly filming a new DVD of sorts for him to release as his or apart of his next project. Prozak was the first act that had actually gotten the crowd to break the policy read aloud over the PA system of no moshing and, in a way, forced them to do it. I like Prozak more on an album then I do live though. Just because there are like seven or eight guys on stage doesn’t make up for the lack of stage presence. Then again at the same time I liked his set a lot, but he did a lot of his ‘metal’ songs off of “Tales from the Sick”, and I wanted to hear more of the tracks with the rap feel to them.

Once Prozak was done, it was finally again time for Skatterman and Snugbrim to grace the stage and go insane. This marked a first for me; it was the first time I got to see them live. It was also the first time that they had performed in Cleveland in, at least, the last four years. It was like a homecoming of sorts, except it wasn’t in KC. I suggest that if you haven’t gotten to that you do so on the a.s.a.p tip, their set will keep you moving and exhilarated. Their set is the set that kicked the show off for me honestly, I wanted to see more of a hip-hop feel in the sets, and theirs was definitely all of what I wanted. It had the tracks that were on point and both were flipping words like it was easier than breathing.

Finally after all of the warming up, the waiting, and the hours of patience came the treacherous three, the KC King, Czar, and Prince: Tech N9ne, Big Krizz Kaliko, and Kutt Calhoun. This was also another first, Tech’s stage set up wasn’t just his usually throne in which he sits and spits his shit, but it was a whole back drop, like an alleyway in the busy streets of Kansas City. Graffiti everywhere, black lights, and a park bench with a boom box on it. The set was way longer than usual, I think it was to include three sets in the one, now that all three artists have solo albums out. The set started off with Tech being hyphy and off the walls, being himself. Then it slowly moved into Kaliko’s turn and he schooled the crowd with his styling’s on Vitiligo. Then Calhoun took it over and shut it down with his tracks off of the long awaited, highly anticipated, ‘Feature Presentation’. Then Bloody Kutty picked up the boom box and started changing the stations bringing on Tech tracks spanning long and far over his career, before settling on to ‘Im a Playa’ to close the show down in full force.

An awesome show/tour to check out if you and the choice, and if not then you missed the fuck out and should know what to do with yourself now.
