Peabody’s shows love to artists who turn it out. And this time around it was no different for Humboldt’s finest and Humboldt’s highest, Potluck. The group did a three city tour that was supposed to have been a full-scale nationwide tour with DGAF that slowly widdled down to three town stint. For the evening it was supposed to have been at least the two groups yet when looking at the set lists for the evening DGAF’s name was nowhere to be found, the only thing it said that I cared about was “Potluck – 11:15” and it was only 7:00 O’clock on the dot. Thinking “FUCK!” I walked through the front doors to be blown away by what was supposed to be music, but it just sucked. The only group that was worth watching, even though it’s the same set every time, was RIA doing their list of fan favorites.

The crowd who definitely wanted to see some hip-hop Humboldt County style got what they had paid for that night for sure. Before the group swarmed the stage they were hanging banners of their logo of a silhouette holding a microphone next to an amplifier with an even bigger Potluck banner hanging behind stage. Underneath of it was one of the main building blocks in any type of rappers show or album, the turntables with an active DJ. On this night they were working with DJ Tom Sawyer (of Citical Bill), representing the Humboldt lifestyle with a flex fit hat and skills of the scratch to match.

Once everything was set and ready to go the duo of Underrated and 1ton stormed the stage with the hit “What We Are” ft. Tech N9ne, and proceeded to rock the stage as if it was a packed ass show in their hometown back out West. It was fucking fresh, no doubt about it. Especially if it was a set that spanned of the course of an hour and twenty-something minutes including:

An amazing set for a pretty shitty night. They were given the fuse by Peabody’s owner and the crowd had the gas, Potluck brought the matches and had a fucking blast. Seriously if you ever get the chance to check this group out besides on the CD your bumping then go do it. It’s an awesome show and you’re sure to have some sort of fun some how I know there is.
