I would pay Tone-Z $200 for a track, especially if it had the whole Gangstagrass band behind us. That would be magnificent. Too bad I don’t rap lol. I wouldn’t pay anything. Just like how underground artists won’t pay a radio station for play rotation, I wouldn’t pay them to do something in my song. If they like me as an artist then they’ll do it and maybe get something from sales.
I think the charging for artist features is totally NOT underground. It’s a blight on the underground scene and it has been growing worse as the years progress. Now it’s just accepted as normal but it is part of what some artists are finding wrong with the whole “underground” hip hop scene.

See, it depends, in my opinion. If you’re a hobbyist, you should NOT be charging for a feature. If you are a serious artist who is living off of your music, I see nothing wrong with it. It is another way for artists to make money in an industry where album sales are becoming less and less prominent.
That being said, I think some artists charge way too much for their collabs. Pretty sure the Jokerr charges a grand at this point.
It may be a trade secret, but I would love to know what @bloodstepp pays for some of his bigger name contributors.

Seeing as you work at a Colorado medical/recreational dispensary, I would be extremely happy with this arrangement if I were him.
