Regardless of all negative opinion, Im still a fan of their music through n through. Ive been a fan since Swan Songs and i will always be a fan. Its just something different to listen to when your not in the mood to listen to the wicked shit all the time.

I decided a while ago to really give their music a listen, and see if they were a band I would like. I started with American Tragedy, and my initial reaction was that I really liked them. But then, the more I listened, the more I realized that their songs were all very formulaic, and the album contained maybe 8 or 9 songs that all had the exact same pattern…great rap-rock sounding verses punctuated by boy band quality, high pitched vocals during the chorus. I didn’t mind it on a few songs, but when the album becomes so predictable, and you know what every song will sound like before you even hear it…blah. Too bad, because they really do have some good verses. If they could just fix that pop, boy band sound in every song, I’d probably be a fan. I haven’t listened to any other albums, and based on just that one, I don’t think I’m interested in hearing any more.

You’re doing yourself a great disservice by not listening to Swan Songs. That was the Deuce era. He wrote, produced, engineered, and generally did everything for the group. And it shows by way of pure excellence.

Emo music is not just a bunch of break up songs. Emo music has confessional lyrics on politics, social issues, relationships and heartbreak.

So basically then ICP could be considered emo rap then, right?

Technically all music could could be considered emo content wise.

Anybody that whines and complains about music that whines and complains is a moron to me.

But, there is a specific sound to emotive hardcore. Its like a darker style of pop punk. Like a depressing version of Blink 182.
