I take exception to this statement. I like my shit to be lo-fi and poorly mastered generic horrorcore, please and thank you. It’s like a chuck burger served rare, which I also enjoy. That said, hipster shit actually would have me dropping a spiteful poop emoji, but her lyrics are more literate and intellectually demanding, with enough tasteful edge to offset the arthouse conceit. So, I’m down.

AKA, poppy and predictable. Let me define poppy for you. It’s very formulated, simple, easy to digest, catchy hooks, probably sticks to the verse, hook verse hook formula. Nothing too different from actual pop rap except the subject matter. Why juggalos, goths, etc. can never come to terms with how poppy their music taste is beyond me. Like, ya’ll fetish the idea of being anti-pop because, ‘mainstream is evil!’ or something stupid.

Hipsters typically like their rap to be literate and intellectually demanding. There are two kinds of rap hipsters like. 1 is the super witty back packers like Aesop Rock, Run The Jewels, Dope Knife etc. The next is the experimental weirdo shit like Death Grips, Moor Mother, NAH, Moody Black etc. And any where in between. Buttress is very much on that experimental weirdo shit with a pinch of witty back packer. Why she doesn’t have as big of a following from hipsters is beyond me. Though, unlike juggalos, hipsters aren’t an actual self identified group with a predictable path to follow. I mean, you can’t really pigeon hole people that never gave themselves boxes anyways, but there are those people that are fairly predictable in how they behave, set clear boundaries on themselves that follow the archetype of a stereotypical hipster. I digress. You’d probably find yourself to be into more hipster shit if you think with out the lines and stigmas. And before dumb asses try to name call hypocrite at me, I’m not the one drawing the lines yall trap yourselves with, I just notice them and I call them out when I see you act like your culture tells you, E.G. making baseless assumptions about popular artists you know nothing of.
