I trust your opinion, and hearing you say that makes me want to read it even more than I did before. Never heard a bad thing about Odd Thomas, I’ll pick that up next. Strangers is the one about the aliens and they do meet up in that hotel somewhere in Arizona I think it was. I liked how he went into mind control and brainwashing in that book, breaking through the blocks in their mind was fascinating to me, they really can put blocks in your brain like that. That was the first Dean Koontz book I ever read. I’ll order from the corner of my eye too. Dean Koontz can get ruthless and make a character like Jim Reenie’s son? I haven’t seen that yet, I’ll pick that up though. Under the Dome is an all time King favorite of mine.

Yep Junior Cain is the epitome of sociopathic lunatics(im not giving anything away btw). It's one of those books that you enjoy reading the killers portions more than the protagonists.

But yeah I cannot say enough good things about the first odd thomas book.  Damn I just looked it up and it seems “brother odd” is the third one so you have that. The fourth “odd apocalypse” was my least favorite out of the four, but still ok.

Damn it! lol your are right. I was thinking “odd hours” was “odd apocalypse”. It seems I haven't even read the newest one. There are five of em” while I thought there were four. Yet again I am wrong

Dude I was just looking at stephenking.com and the have a book called “the complete concordance” that has everything to do with the dark tower and the cross-references to his other books. Essentially an encyclopedia you ever heard of it? I already  picked up probably most of the cross-references but i'd love to check it out

Nah man, never heard of it, thanks for letting me know. I’m gonna go check it out in a minute. I’m anxious for Dr. Sleep too, the shining sequel. How’s The Talisman treating you?

Not to far in as of right now. Just haven't actually set down to dive into it. For some reason jack and his mom reminds me of alan and his mom from “Riding the Bulllet”.

Im actually just after the part where him and speedy sit down and talk for the first time. I already love jacks character even though im just starting

Dude, I really should check that website more often. That book looks awesome dude, and I definetily want it for my collection. I still haven’t read The Wind Through The Keyhole yet, I love having a Dark Tower book on deck but at the same time hate not knowing what everyone else does. I’ll read that soon. Again, thanks for letting me know about that

Jack is the shit, Speedy is cool as hell too man. They’re are so many great characters in that book, it’s one of my favorites by him. Make sure when you do dive into it, you have some free time man. You’re probably not gonna want to put it down. And in my experience, people do not consider a great book an excuse for blowing off everything else. I know, I don’t get it either. I can’t believe with all the access we have to literature in this country that people still don’t read. The library here is a ghost town, it’s fuckin sad man. People can read all the books they want for a dollar a year and still don’t do it. Not picking on people who don’t read, just saying I don’t understand it at all. If I lost my eyes, i’d learn briale real quick, i’d go crazy man. Fuck that shit

Its a really good one man. You get to see some more of roland's childhood after they leave  mejis. There really are no suprises in there but it made me long for more.

Its kind of like “The Little Sisters of Eluria” Just kind of a side story that has no bearing on the actual plot.

I can understand almost not wanting to read it. Like damn this is it right here, the last one…

I finished The Shining not too long ago and have been reading The Girl Who loved Tom Gordon its good so far. King always makes these kids kinda adult in their thoughts. The main character is only nine and she thinks like she is in her 20's. But its good so far havent got to the monster parts yet.

I noticed yall talking bout Dean koonts is he near as good as King? Has any one read Daniel X by James Patterson thats a pretty cool book series imo.

No but I am a patterson fan. Particularly the Alex Cross series. I like how his chapters are really short, so it feels like the book moves along quickly.

Im glad im not the only one who noticed that about king's children in his stories. I've thought it many times over the years man.

As far as koontz, Im a really biased king fan but i've read atleast 20 of koontz books. The man knows how to paint his words I'll tell you that. He. is similar to king in that alot of his books are about the struggle between good and evil. His villians are almost always more memorable than the heroes

I'd check out one of his latest “What The Night Knows” a really good read

I love the Alex Cross books, James Patterson is okay. His books move along quickly but I can get annoyed by the short chapters after awhile too. Ever notice how 95% of the time he has a co-author? I don’t know what the deal is with that, that’s why he can drop 4 or 5 books a year though. His books are never boring, but they all follow the same formula. His books, no matter what the plot, play out the same way. By that I mean, there’s always a twist around page 250/300 where a main character turns on everyone else, and his character development could be better. Has he ever written a chapter more than 5 pages? Usually they don’t go past 3. I know I’m being critical but I’m sorry, Patterson is not in the same category as King and Koontz. At least they can write their own books. I do like how he has a foundation that gets kids to read, I read the first Daniel X and I can tell you, we didn’t have cool books like that when I was a kid. Maximum Ride was a cool idea too, only read the first one of that series too though. It reminded me of the Harry Potter books before they were long winded and the size of Encyclopedias.

Thanks for the input ive been wanting to read other writers but at the same time i didnt want to waste my time on a lame book. U feel me? I thought the Daniel X book was a dope idea the kid fights aliens or hybrid creatures tight.

Mos Def Slumerican ive thought that king's kids were on a different level from real kids but thats wut makes them stand out that they have the minds of 30 year olds. The lil girl in Tom gordon is rationning food and conserving her walkman batteries if it was my lil girl she would have used everything then cried the rest of the time til she died. The kids in IT were deffinately on some adult orgy in a sewer type stuff and they were like 10 to 12 years old. wow what kid thinks about that in the 50's mabe now but not in the 50's.

So that Funhouse novel is based on the movie. Thought that was a cool idea a killer in an Amusement park. ICP should make a song like that or an ep on different rides that kill you. hahaha

Shit i'm 24 and I woulda ate my food in the first four hours curled up into a  ball and cried till' I starved to death llal

Man Its a decent enough book but he has waaayyyyy better. Check out “Odd Thomas” “Intensity” and especially “The door to december”

The door to december is about a scientist that kidnaps his daughter and performs experiments on her. Ever see on of those sensory deprivation chambers? Well he keeps her in one for hours upon hours at time, trying to separate the spirit from the body. By far my favorite koontz and a concept never done in any of the novels i've ever read

I got a quick question. I don’t want to look it up and ruin the book. But it mentions in the talisman richard sloat fucking over the chinese restaurant owners to up their rent. I feel like this has been talked about in another book. Possibly just after sunset…am I fucking nuts?]

*morgan not richard
