yeah, you could watch them all bunting heroin on stage. like pros.Because thats pretty much all coal chamber was, heroin junkies looking like weirdos making metal.
Dez Fafara does waaaaaay better in devildriver. Clean and sober. i like it.
This^
I had the chance to watch Coal Chamber maybe a month or two ago and bailed on it. I think they were the equivalent of Dez writing shitty goth poetry as a teenager and then he grew up and started working with DevilDriver. Ever gone back and read some stupid teenage shit that you did? That’s what listening to Coal Chamber is. Amir of the Desert and Big Truck are fun to listen to now but not in a “this is really good music” kind of way.
It’s fucked up that people throw shit at artists out of anger (I would say that there’s another level of Juggalos throwing shit that really seems to be a playful “now throw it back!” type of deal). But I can’t see Coal Chamber not getting a lot of pissed off Juggalos throwing everything near them on the stage, tryin to take Dez out. If they were there, I might catch them if nothing else is happening but if DevilDriver was there (wouldn’t happen) I would be front row.

To each their own & all that good shit, but fuck two note guitar riffs.
It’s not what you play. It’s how you play it. The riff from “Walk” is one the most recognized and respected riffs in metal but technically, it’s incredibly simply. I mean, reallllly fucking simple. The blues influence can’t be denied though and that’s what makes it so good. I get what you’re sayin but I think you could make just as simple a statement on the other end. Ever watch some of the incredibly technically proficient guitarists on youtube? They’re playing great stuff but they have zero passion when they’re doing it and it sounds like you’re listening to a computer play notes instead of a song.

Yeah, I think that stuff’s pretty boring too. I agree with the “how you play it” sentiment, my problem is that Nu-Metal bands all play it exactly the same. Tune to “B”, play a riff that looks like binary code on a tab sheet.
This message was sent from my Atari 2600 through fiber optic cable made of fucks I no longer give.

There are a couple exceptions to that rule but for the most part, yeah, you’re right.
