Might have something to do with your age, at least thats how I feel about it. I just turned 30 and for the last few years everything new that comes out, minus a few artists, sounds like a lesser version of something I heard done better 100 times or something I just dont want to hear at all. I always use artists like Kendrick Lamar and Tyler the Creator as examples, because there not only Commercially succesful but critically acclaimed as well, people talk about them like the 2nd coming of Nas & Eminem and I’ve tried to get into their shit and cant do it, I just dont see whats special. But I have a 42 year old brother so I always think back to when I was a teenager listening to Pac, Nas, DMX, Em, etc etc and he was in his late 20’s telling me over and over again how much new music sucked and trying to shove Run DMC & Big Daddy Kane in my face over and over….. I’m sure before that my uncles probably did the same thing to him. Alot of us fell in love with music as kids and through the years its gonna stop hitting you the same way it did in the beginning. I still keep an open mind and give everything a chance tho.

Really, its just because the shock value and freshness of what they do has worn off after so many years. I imagine a 14 year old kid who hears MDP as his first ICP record probably gets his mind blown by it. Not to say I dont like the record because I thought it had its moments. But realistically there is nothing there capable of doing thats gonna give me that Great Milenko feeling again, that ship has sailed.
