How good is it when someone perfectly describes the feeling of something you have gone through? It’s comforting to know you are not alone during that time or even be reminded that you got past something that really fucked you up for a while.
It’s no secret Violent J is my favourite artist and lyricist and I have no shame in admitting it and lately I haven’t been able to get this verse from “Put It Down” off Psychopathics from Outta Space Vol. 3 out of my head.
Who the fuck was that demonous witch woman with that trickery
And why’d she grow sick of me, shit it could be
A game she plays, evil is as evil does
Leave me for dead in agony just cause
I’d way rather never have had then to have had
To never have had is only half bad
But the taste, togetherness and all that it’s worth
And then return to loneliness is the deepest hurt
I realize all the shit was lies
Our ties, bonds, secrets, promises, goals, our whole lives
Shit canned all that we planned, our miles ran
Super condensed into a one night stand
Five years of my life and soul, sucked out
She had her hands on his balls and his…
Betrayal, betrayed, cut off and played on
For life, I ain’t about to drop this knife!
Obviously I got fucked over by being dumb enough to fall for a slut and be delusional to expect loyalty…again…
But the point is I thought it might be cool for some of you to share some verses or tracks that do the same for you and sum up exactly how you feel or a situation you went through.
And hopefully some shit stain doesn’t turn this thread into an argument about some other bullshit like most threads on here.

Play With Me is such a great story about childhood neglect.
Vera Lee is a haunting (lol) example of how memory lingers and torments us.
There’s lots of stuff on hells pit about loneliness that really hit home.
An ex girlfriend of mine could not listen to the witch because when j talked about it sitting on his chest it reminded her too much of her sleep paralysis episodes.

I’d mentioned this before but it bears repeating. About Hell’s Pit.
I dont know how intentional they were for their lyrics and theme from the album, but loneliness is definitely at play here. Not just in the obvious parts of “Truly Alone” but some of the lyrics we may overlook.
Walking into a Super K and grabbing a chainsaw and killing someone. And in “Angel’s Falling” how he just casually says he gets a double barrel shotgun at Walmart. To me that always struck me with the visual of the paintless Joe Bruce-looking dudes you see at these heartless, spiritually void mega marts.. aimlessly shopping for some meaning when it’s all an empty catacomb of mass produced shit products. Lost souls wandering around a fluorescent diversion.
And I also felt that the jarring tonal shift from Shangri-La’s overproduced, joyous music to the minimalist, almost dismal beats of Hell’s Pit was genius.
J always said in interviews his fears about afterlife judgment were primarily based on the fact that you are alone in your eternity. If you are facing the judging God, no one is there to help you. No one can vouch for you or have your back, because this God already knows everything you did and why. And the punishment of being in Hell is that you are alone, save some other tormented souls and poky demons.
“Everyday I Die” is about both J and Shaggy being in Hell and trying to find eachother. They just get killed repeatedly and will probably never see each other or anyone else again.
Matter of fact, there isnt one song on there that doesnt involve loneliness in some way. Perhaps CPKs, but you could argue that the person about to be abused by the preacher is acting out his rage due to that isolating helplessness that abuse victims feel. Joe Bruce himself is a victim of sexual abuse.
Shangri-La is about homies, family, camaraderie, love. The absence of these is ICP’s hell.
Angels Falling = loneliness from the death of a partner.
Even goddamn Bowling Balls. Dude is so lonely he keeps a bunch of fucking human heads in his house.

Agreed. When listened to in the right way Shangri la isn’t about the after life but about friendship and community, hells pit is about solitude and isolation.
Shangri la even means “heaven on earth” as opposed to the afterlife. And all those collabos.

Years ago it was stuff like “I hit rock bottom, and then I fell in a hole, And then I fell through the floor of that hole some more…” Now it’s more like “I’m a motherfucking Juggalo, deep in my DNA… Stare at us in disgust, your skull will combust. Ka-boom! Forever Dark Lotus!” And my favorite:

Don’t cry for the dead cause they cry for you because we laugh about an aftermath but they know how true
And listen ain’t no-fucking-body getting it worse than you and me and ain’t nobody getting it worse
But you and me and we will see
Fat pat like his daddy was a bigit pulling duty he could tell it to them gargoyles fucking on his booty
And Shawna liked money but mistook it for love and when the witch’s wings press she give him
Head and look above

“Afraid of Me.” The whole song, really. But this verse in particular:
I am my own worst enemy
I’m not the smartest motherfucker and shit, I don’t pretend to be
And why I am the way I am is not a mystery
My mind’s not in proper working order or in therapy
Deranged confused and mentally abused
Life’s been hanging on a string so what the fuck I got to lose?
And what the fuck I got to prove to you?
If you don’t know me by now, you’ll never know me
You can put that on my real homies
I got problems and they stack like bills
And I relate to the broken, bleeding heart love killed
And I awaited in the shadows, awake in the dark
Hoping to talk to the passed on, I’m falling apart
I’m such a mess indecisive, I’m fading away
I’m out of touch with society and living today
Never relying on my sanity, I throw it away
To become the maniac that’s got your attention today

Feeling most of these posts! Thanks for sharing ninjas!
Especially Hell’s Pit and Afraid of Me!
Twiztid have plenty of golden verses I’m sure most of us relate to…
How could we ever forget this one?
They tend to misunderstand
The paper man with scissor hands
Who watches the hourglass for grains of sand
To fall and fall again, as he pretends
That everything he lays his hands on doesn’t turn to shreds
But why oh why does he persist to hide
When they insist he try to come outside
From the shell he lives inside
Now he’s been hypnotized
And despite the lies, he sits and waits to die
Cause he can’t find the words to explain the rain
All his emotions are transformed and now become pain
He’s alive in a black hole, empty in space
And he sits in front of the mirror and he’s face to face
With the sadness, confusion
His patience, he’s losing
He’s substance abusing
He’s one with the music
And he needs a little something to dial it all back
Cause he’s running in a race but he’s not on track
Like…damn…that’s brilliant!
