I found this interview I remember reading back when ABK left, it's funnier now that Twiztid left over the same shit...
SE: Well first off, thanks for doing this. We had so many questions coming in, I just figured this would be the best way to answer all of them!
ABK: No problem! What better way to find out things then straight from the source itself, right?
SE: Right.Ok, well I'm going to start of by asking the most asked question...What happened between you and Psy., why did you leave? I know you said in the interview with Faygoluvers.net that it was mostly over your contract which has a lot of people asking what you wanted in your contract that Psy. was not offering to you? Did it have anything to do with money?
ABK: Well anyone who really knows me, knows I'm the last person, to be known as greedy. But shit we need money to live, right!
SE: For sure!
ABK: I just believe I should get what I deserve, ya know. What's right, what's fair. And there's a lot of things that lead up to the decision, you know. When it came time to sign the contract I looked it over and wasn't feelin it. That's when I called up my lawyer, and asked him to look it over. You know, to make sure I wasn't misunderstanding anything that I was reading. We talked threw what my options would be, and I came to the decision not to sign back with them. What I wanted most in my contract, was my publishing. I wanted to own the rights to all the lyrics that I wrote. And I found out that all my lyrics I wrote at Psy. was owned by three different people. And two of them weren't even an artist. See, I don't know how many people know about all that, but see when you own your publishing your rights gets passed on to your kids after you die, for 70 years. So that would get passed on to my kids, shit maybe even grand kids. So I didn't think its right for someone else or their kids to be getting paid off of the shit I did! You know. If I wrote it, I should own it, its only right. But there was lots of things in that contract I didn't agree with.
SE: So basically you just wanted what was rightfully yours?
ABK: Yeah, you know. I found out about a lot of things that I should of been getting and wasn't so I guess another reason for me leaving too was the trust.
SE: So if Psy. was to call you, to work out a new contract, would you sign back with them?
ABK: At, this point, I don't know. I mean like I said, that's one of the reasons I left, because of the trust. They tell me one thing then they do another or some times would never tell me anything at all, and I'd have to find shit out for myself. Like Hot Topic, Juggalo's told me I had a shirt in that store before Psy. did. Psy. never did tell me! I had to go and ask Alex about that, other wise I probably would of never knew. Same with Shock Records Australia, I never knew I had a deal with them, till two months before I left when I came across it on the internet myself. I even bought the cds to make sure that shit was real! I never got paid for any over seas sales till I mentioned to Alex that I wanted to know what's up with shock records, then all of a sudden this year in my royalty statement I'm getting paid for world wide sales. Funny isn't it. How long did I have albums out on Psy. for?
SE: So its like, if you don't ask, they don't tell?
ABK: Right!
SE: So you couldn't trust them anymore?
ABK: Could you? *laughs*A couple days before I got that contract, they had called a meeting up at the office and to my surprise it was all about me! Ricker- you know Rickers Bangin BBQ sauce- Twiztids homie, had stopped by Lavels a day or two before, and Lavel was playin some Krazy Klan songs that we had recorded. Well I guess Ricker got the impression that me and Lavel were gonna start are own Label. So then he went back and told Paul. Then after that everyone thought I had this big plan to leave and start up something with Lavel, cuz he had already been fired from there. They told me that I couldn't do any side projects outside the label, and that I couldn't do anything with Lavel. The side project thing I didn't care about because I was never intending on doing one anyways, I had just done Drive-By. But when they told me I couldn't use any of Lavel's beats that I had songs already recorded. I felt I was getting teamed up on, because me and Lavel had more history together. So I brought up the fact of the SWK project and they said there would be no SWK, either. But now I hear they're gonna be putting it out. They just didn't want me and Lavel doing anything together. Not even hang! Joe told me Lavel wasn't welcome to anymore events. Then the next night at the Christmas party there was Joe callin Lavel up on stage with him for some SV. And when he called me up on stage to do some Drive-by, I was alone cuz half of the people that sat in at that meeting had left pissed off. So after all that went down, I felt I couldn't trust them anymore, and they didn't trust me, you know. A few weeks before that, they had called a meeting giving me a choice to cancel my New Years Show or quit the label. Reason being, because of the opening acts and because they had nothing to do with booking that show. I guess they didn't want me to learn to much of the business, considering I booked myself a show making the same amount I get doing a whole Psy. tour. So, I guess in some way it has to do with money, but defiantly not in a greedy way. When something is rightfully yours, that's not greed.
SE: That's crazy, Psy. told you to cancel your new years show or leave the label? What did you do?
ABK: I said ok, and got up from my chair to leave! You know that's something I found real fucked up. When Psy. posted the news that I left the label, they had said some shit about me assuring them for the last couple months I was there, that I was down to stay and it was a big shock to them, when all that shit had happened a month before I left. Funny thing is I hardly was even around at that office ever since the Man's Myth tour.
SE: Yeah, that was one of my questions, why did you leave the Man's Myth tour? There was talk that you were sick, or for legal reasons, what's the real reason behind all that?
ABK: Main reason, I was tired. I'd been touring for like 5 years straight. Then I guess some of it had to do with them late nights that me and Paul would be talking in the back of the bus. He was schoolin me on what I should of been getting from Psy. as a record label, and that's when I started learning the business a little more and finding out a lot of shit. And I found out I was getting the bone! Paul had filled me in on a lot of shit, I guess he was just looking out. But after I had found out all that, I was hurt, and felt unappreciated, so I bounced.
SE: Do you think you'll ever work with them again?
ABK: I don't know, it depends on a lot of things.
SE: So are you still cool with anyone from the label? I guess there has been some talk that you and blaze are beefing bad?
ABK: I don't got beef with Blaze. I haven't talked to him since I left, but I'm cool, ya know, but I don't know about them. Because one thing I don't understand is when Lavels mix tape came out, I had text messaged Joe and let him know that I wasn't hating on the hatchet and that the reason I even got on that mix tape was cuz of Lavels line, "your canoe will get popped!" so I had to get on that and represent for my warriors! I let Joe know, I had nuttin but love, he wished me the best of luck with everything, then a couple weeks later he's posting his weekly freekly talking about he don't know why I'm hating. So what ever they got going on I don't know, I know I don't hold grudges. I ain't mad. I'm glad like glad lock!
SE: A lot of the Juggalos think that track you did on Lavels mix tape was a diss toward them and Psy
ABK: I don't know why?
SE: Because in the course its saying "Fuck you and your family" and a lot of people think that's you....
ABK: Well for the people that know me and know my voice, can surly tell you different. The courses and verses were already recorded before I added my verse. Lavel had asked me if I wanted to get on one of the tracks. At first I wasn't going to, but until he played the Rock Star track with that canoe shit, it was on! *laughs* Like I said, I don't hold grudges. Music's suppose to be fun and that's what we were doing, having fun. I don't even think the "fuck you and your family" was towards the Juggalos. I think Lavel was more or less saying that towards the family he was working for. Cuz he did get stiffed on a lot of projects. I guess sometimes hard work don't pay off. BELIEVE me, I know! *laughs*

Hate to read shit like this, wish Psychopathic was run a little better. It can't be all that bad though, I mean, he came back. Then again, he didn't do shit on his own. I mean, ABK's one cool dude, everytime I met him he's wicked nice and cool as fuck, but I haven't been feelin' his music since Dirty History. Down Here is my shit!!!!!

It makes me sad to read shit like that
There's a gateway in our minds
That leads somewhere out there, far beyond this plane

twiztidkillaxxx2 said Remember when twiztid was pissed when abk came back? They almost left then I thought. I could be wrong
if i remember correctly they said somethin like "us or him" at one of their seminars.. it was in 07 i think..
It made for an extremely awkward seminar.. It was 07.. the Hot Gathering.. Everyone was super pumped up earlier in the day because ICP announced ABK return, then twiztid came out extremely pissed about abk, and it almost started a civil war between ninjas at the gathering.. those backing ICP and abk, and those siding with Twizzler.. I was pretty depressed smoking my blunt during that twiztid seminar feeling all the bad vibes coming off that they were spewing out... the rest of the gathering you could feel the war brewing between ninjas

It makes me sad to read shit like thatRuins the magic. This makes me think twiztid was telling the truth about no beef. They did not have no where close to this much hate when they left.

They were pretty pissed but outside of that rant they kept it to themselves for the most part. And a few digs on tracks. They knew how fast their careers could drop like Esham and everyone else who talked too much shit after leaving. Now with a new Lotus they played their cards right and aren't mad anymore at them since they've proven to themselves they can make it by themselves. Best thing they ever could have done is leave Psychopathic because they'll benefit even more now working with Psychopathic. No more waiting turns for records to drop. Now both sides can keep dropping shit and do stuff together without worrying about each other.
Props to ABK for standing up for himself but unfortunately for him it happened in an era when juggalos were still stuck in the Psychopathic or gtfo mindset. But a credit to him he did get the ball rolling for juggalos to start thinking for themselves instead of taking everything Psychopathic says as truth. Not as much of an impact as when Twiztid finally left but it was still a pretty big deal at the time.

I hate hearing this kind of stuff, I really do. Sometimes it's better to leave what's behind the curtains behind the curtains. Twiztid shouldn't have come out all pissed and ranting at that '07 seminar tho. I mean it's that kind of shit that gets everyone pissed and turning on each other. The fam isn't the same as it was back in the Shangri La days. everyone's always bitching about everything like" their new album sucks, they're only about the money now", so on and so forth. I want to believe that it's all one of a kind and nothing else can even come close. And it was for awhile. It's sort of still there, but it's really out of focus these days. Too much shit talk, too many u nappreciative fans.

I like reading shit like this..Yea,It blows cuz of the music and all,Everybody actin like homies wen in fact everyones backstabbin each other and talkin shit.BUT,The common theme Ive noticed is that Joe Bruce seems to be in mix of all of it sumhow.Kickin people outta shows,Not payin folks wat they should be gettin',Just overall tryin to run everyones carrer in his favor.Look at Blazes last album,Look at ABK's first album,Look at Hoodoos first album.Every ICP record has 6 Violent j solo tracks were shaggs is just on the hook, backround,Or not even at all.....Esham has came out and said it,DJ fillin,J 10,and whoever else has spoke on his ego in the past...You dont scream"HOMIES" then do everything in the book to fuck them same homies ur rollin with over.Im just glad Twiztid didnt fall for them shady ass tactics....And ICP's new shit does suck. Its like buying a Kidz Bop(Wicked Edition)Album.

@Mr.Bitches
That's the biggest heartbreaker I will admit when you said they all act like homies and then the truth is they all backstab each other. And how J always seems to be involved somehow whenever negativity is unearthed. What kind of message does that send Juggalos? They preach family and unity, and then you discover they don't even practice what they preach? I mean, this is such a shitty time to be a Juggalo. It feels like whatever fun and goodtimes there were have all dried up and surrendered to the almighty dollar.
I mean, let's be fucking honest here for a second. Read all the negative shit posted by non-juggalos AND SELF PROCLAIMED JUGGALOS ON THIS VERY WEBSITE. IS THE JUGGALO FAMILY EVRN REAL ANYMORE? Sure, it's still here, but is it REAL? Or did it die?
Sad shit I've been thinking & feeling lately. :[

I, for the record, think ABKs first album is amazing. I don't have a problem with j giving some direction in an album, but what he did with Blaze seems like he took away all of blazes creative control. He makes them use mike e Clark beats, and all of that. Tali Demon said the same sort of thing. I feel like J is worse than some people think, but not as bad as some other people think. I mean, Psychopathic was founded on gimmicks, so I can see why he is still trying to use them. I still think the man is a story telling genius when he really tries. Also, anyone trying to get anywhere in the music biz should have a lawyer read over ANY record deal before they sign it, not matter how cool the label seems.
