I wasn’t particularly happy with Lost, House of Wax was good for what it was, and I liked maybe a third of Death Pop. So I’ve been taking a few songs from all of them and pretending that they make up the new Jokers Card. A friend decided to give it a face and name, I wrote a backstory to it and it’s becoming a rather elaborate mix cd lol. I’m digging up old skits that have been forgotten, cutting up a couple of songs, and trying like a mother fucker to match the carney voice.
It’s all in fun but slapping another ICP intro on it doesn’t feel right. I could use royalty free music but that’s the last option and is rather boring. It would be fun to make my own but it’s beyond my expertise. So anyone want to jump in on this? The story for it is wrote up so that would go over top of it but the instrumental is open for anyone that’s interested. If you want the story/name and all of that I’m happy to share. There obviously wouldn’t be any pay involved but I’ll credit the shit out of you wherever I can. Once it’s done I want so share it with whoever the fuck would be interested in such a thing (that’s legal right? I really hope that it’s legal) and if you’re getting credit for your opening (a rather significant part of any jokers card) that means more ears your way so there’s always that.

- what tracks did you select?
- Post the written intro and face design
- Don’t hold your breath on getting a neato beat for free
- You could upload the full album to YouTube at least.

no. the only thing stoppin the copyright owners from slammin you is whether or not they feel like it.
that aint the same thing as legal.
‘sides, you arent talkin about promoting their product, youre talkin bout promoting a separate product, made with their property.
the short version is, if you dont own the copyright, you cant do shit with it. there are some very minor exceptions, but they almost never come up [usually purposes of news coverage, public debate, and formal education: thats basicly it]. and even then, you only get sumn like fifteen seconds.
look it up. the nice thing about laws and court precedents is, they have to be publicly available.
better yet, dont look it up. consult an attorney.

Right I get that, but if you’re not selling a product what can they come after you for? I have and just did a little more cause you got me thinking now (know a good entertainment attorney? lol). My understanding was as long as you’re not making money off of it now or in the future there’s nothing anybody can do except dead it.
On the other hand, @celle2057 if this is something you are legitimately passionate about, you could try to contact Psychopathic yourself and get permission to use their material on your project. I have no idea what the chances are of them saying yes or you getting through to them, but that would be the proper steps to take if you were concerned about legal action against you. I don’t see Psy being one to go after anybody for something like this since it only helps them promote but its always better to be safe than sorry.

You’re essentially making a bootleg album, which has always been illegal. For profit or not, it doesn’t fall under the category of “fair use” which is in itself a somewhat slippery slope.

That’s why I wasn’t sure if it was legal or not. I would be sharing their music online. No matter how much I alter it, how different is it than just posting all three albums online for someone to download? That’s not rhetorical either. I really don’t know. Me and my friend are just having fun and I want to share that fun, ya know?
@voicenameless I doubt they would do anything. People were making money off of them all over Etsy and all they did was tell them to stop. I have no illusions that my little bored project would ever rake in any cash, nor would I want it to. Contacting them might not be a bad idea though. I’ll definitely be getting a hold of you on here.
@cryptic_the_clown If no one wants to make an intro for free, that’s cool. If you’re an incredible artist and don’t really have time for free shit, why would you do it lol? I find it hard to believe that there aren’t Juggalos that would like to make their own intro and have some abilities though.
I’ll upload the intro, tracks and all that on a different reply so this one isn’t long as shit.

the ‘my understanding was…’ defense will not hold up in court. its been tried. many times, in fact. usually by people who hire dipshit slicksters who know theyre gonna lose, but need the work.

The Mystical Muse appears playing hypnotic music in order to lure those not good enough for Bang! Pow! Boom! away to the depths of purgatory. There they will be forced to watch as countless souls are purified by the hand of death while they remain on the sidelines, knowing that they must face the same trials over and over until the end of eternity. And once the dust of Bang! Pow! Boom! has settled, all that will be heard is the music of the Mystical Muse, herding the wicked back to their rightful spots of torture in the Dark Carnival. Like children to the piper, the evil is, to The Mystical Muse.
The tracks are in no particular order, as of yet but what we’ve settled on thus far:
House of Wax, Take it out on Me, Confederate Flag, Vomit, Falling Apart, Flamethrower, Night of the Chainsaw, Chris Benoit, Bazooka Joey, When I’m Clownin’, Dog Catchers, Skreem!, Ain’t No Future in Yo Frontin’, I’ll Keep My Hatchet, & You Should Know.
I think with a little work, those could make up a solid ass jokers card. It covers the whole range of what makes ICP great (to me) and thematically they all make sense. Theres a couple funny, happy ICP songs that could be the music the Muse is creating and the wicked shit is a reflection of the souls in purgatory.

Afraid I have to side with scruff mcgruff the crime dog: Nothing about this is legal as dudebro was trying to say. Selling it or not, you’re stealing because you don’t own it [the people with publishing rights do] and have zero right to distribute shit that ain’t yours.
The only thing you could do, legally, is give a tracklist, maybe the “fake intro,” and the home made cover. Past that, you might want to keep it on the DL.
