My hometown however had a few “rappers”… that would’ve quit had they came here for feedback.
Get rich quick scheme, lol, yeah I’ll have distant family members hmu on FB saying we should collab and how we could seriously blow up on rap battle sites i ain’t even heard and could get rich. clearly I hurt the wannabe rap god’s ego when I pointed out the fact that the self proclaimed rap god has 26 views in 5 years and 25 of those views were from himself and one view from his mama.

I mean he played some huge gigs like his neices quinceanera and he payed Mars $250 to open with a 3 song set for him 2 hours before Mars went on stage infront of 12 people.

Not snobby at all. I’ve seen these people give up after a month. It’s always annoying to me because it feels disrespectful to the art. They think it’s going to be this easy thing anybody can do and they want to exploit it. One thing I never trust is an amateur rapper that says ‘let’s get this money’ rather than ‘let’s make this banger’. Trust the ones that will spend hours talking about music with you.

Perhaps this era where you can download music for free has a lot to do with it. I know that people used to live off of their record sales before this mp3 revolution appeared. Now they need to hustle and sell apparel. Violent J himself said that Psychopathic is 70-80% shirt and item sales. They dont make shit off of their discs anymore.. . So with YouTube hits and such.. I dunno.. it’s just an ever-evolving landscape for music.
People largely assume that it’s easy to hit it big financially and it just isnt so. Same thing comes to my own job. People assume my job is a big stoned cash swap. It is anything but. It is highly mentally taxing and even exhausting at times to balance the legalities, customer needs and cash deeds. I miss physically demanding jobs because that is a whole different kind of tired than this mental shit.
I’ve never been late to a job. Ever. Most dont believe that but it is true. I dont understand how anyone could be perpetually late but they are the majority. I have made my company millions. With zero write-ups or major problems (I’m the one they ask to deal with difficult customers. Default Guy). So I can call myself a “God Tier” Budtender lol. And I’m the only original employee after 4.7 years since their opening day. Since day one I’ve been pushing A-1.
As far as rapping… like Jiggles said, I dabble but dont take it seriously enough to pursue it. I just dont have that particular kind of drive being married with kids and never wanting to be away from them for too long. I could accomplish it, 100% if that’s what I wanted. I admire those that do.

I dont rap for props, respect, or money.. all my music has always been free.. i rap for myself.. I do it because i feel there’s not enough dope rappers, for me to listen to from a fans perspective, making music at the same top tier level battle rappers are at.. i feel im filling a void.. and after 2014 my song game has gotten too good to be greedy and just keep it to myself..

Even in the digital age, you still get paid for streams on Spotify and Apple Music and such. You could do pretty well off of that, if you knew how to market. I, on the other hand, do not know thing one about marketing. My music is good enough to make money off of (it doesn’t have to be tho, there’s enough people in the world that the niches are endless), I just don’t know who likes it, or how to find out who likes it. There are promoters online that guarantee listeners and data on who likes it, but I really don’t feel like paying for all that… not yet at least. Scruffy said something along the lines of, making the music is the easiest part, I think he was right.
Just some stuff I read and think about.
