I hate that we call it the second deck. It isn’t a second deck. It’s a second hand, at most. A deck should be 52 or 78 etc.
jk but i don’t really know what to say. I like most of the albums, first or second hand.

I love the first set of joker’s cards. Maybe it’s because a lot of them are a big part of my childhood, I grew up listening to that shit so I’ll admit it could be nostalgia but everything after and including the tempest started to go downhill as far as their music goes. I can’t say exactly why. something just changed about the sound. They just sounded less raw, less wicked to me. I did really fucking love Missing link:Lost. but Missing link:found is probably the cheesiest cornball bullshit they’ve ever put out.

I agree with you i hate that it’s called the second deck idk what it should be called I leave that to icp but the original 6 was so dope bc I it was pure carnival surrounded in mysterious messages. The tempest series was ok with me could’ve been executed and flashed out a bit.

To be honest I haven’t even listened to missing link I’m kinda afraid I’ll be so disappointed but I’m super baked so I’ll give a listen right now.
And I agree with them not sounding as raw I miss that

My story:
The First Six: they had an essence of mystery to them. I was like 15 years old and discovered ICP by accident. It was the middle of winter and I just got expelled from high school. Was living at a friends for a few days to escape bad parents etc. My homie and I were high playing video games at 2 am (my first time being high btw), and blasting his step dads CDs in one of those 5 CD holder stereos. My bro passed out and I decided to go to bed too but couldn’t figure out how to turn off stereo (cuz stoned af).
Suddenly the room got quiet and I heard the intro to Jeckyl Brothers. Scared the shit out of me. A 15 year old kid, first time on the devils lettuce in a dark room in the middle of winter with shit going on in life. That album confused the fuck out of me. But it was the greatest thing ive ever heard.
From there on I listened to all ICPs shit from Carnival of Carnage to Hell’s Pit. The calm had just dropped so I couldn’t download that shit yet. It was so much fun getting into ICP. What a fucking trip.
The Calm – Tempest:
This era was the rest of highschool for me. With Bang! Pow! Boom! Dropping my senior year. Life slowly improved, made the best friends I have ever had, lost my virginity, applied to college and got in, finished a trade. It was a period of calm and ups and downs. These albums were super dope to me, but I knew they weren’t the wicked shit and I was cool with that. I thought of them as like Bizaar/Bizzar mega sideshows.
The Second Six:
Bang! Pow! Boom! drops and I graduate school, dump highschool sweetheart and end up with childhood friend. Turned Into long relationship. Went to college, and did a whole bunch of crazy shit that Summer including my first ICP concert. Seeing Bang Pow Boom live was amazing. ICP played a shitload of songs off the album, stage was themed, legs diamond announcing and MIke Clark. Had the full FAMILY era roster. Loved Bang Pow Boom. It was upbeat and not wicked or spooky like the past though. Which was fine, my life was changing like that too.
Mighty Death Pop! I loved this album too, but again, nothing esoteric and spooky, nothing wicked and manic like that past. The vibe was still super dope though. The theme fit my life well because at that time I was doing reckless shit. Tripping on acid and shrooms, traveling multiple states, not working, just being a scrub. Of course like the card’s theme, all the partying came to an end in one death pop. The Family Era ended in psychopathic. Girlfriend left me for being a bum. Lost my best friends. School was getting rough and I got a job once I realized loans were stacking and the bus was getting stale. Everything fell apart overnight. All in the same month. Once again in winter.
Lost/Found This album was a real downer for me. Also fit my life though. I was super lost. Drinking and smoking weed every fucking day. School, bus, work, bus, home. On repeat. Senior year in college and it was getting hard. Working 30 hours on top of it. But then I got a car! Then I graduated! Then I got a new job and a promotion! Lost all my friends though. All of them. Had a bad trip on shrooms and found my missing link to be missing. Very nihilistic at this time despite succeeding in school and work.
Fearless Fred Fury. I don’t know the future but being in this lost period so long, and finally having found some control in my life (sober af now and working out) I need some raw energy. I’m getting pissed about all this staleness. Being a broke scrub were the best times of my life. Having my shit together is great and all, but I’m alone now. I’m bored, and Im getting angry at the staleness and want to improve my life again. I’m feeling fearless and the fury is brewing.

Since The first six, I’ve only considered MDP to be the all the way through playable card. They went all out on that though plus the bonus discs and mass amount of videos didn’t hurt either. BPB had a handful of good songs at most (sorta likes Eminem’s new album) And with TMML I think they could’ve taken a handful of songs from all 3 releases (including outtakes) and that could’ve been as good or better than MDP

don’t get it twisted, I actually love the second set. Just when I hear deck, I think of a thicker stack than 6/7.
Lost has some great songs. Apocalypse, Shock, Falling Apart, Confederate Flag, Flame Thrower.
Found has a few tracks as well. Found, OK, Get Clowned, The World Is Yours.
And the outtakes brings up the rear to make a full length of dopeness: six pedophiles, the monsters home, Joey the Butcher, Immortal, Why’d I Have to Die?
FWIW I’ve been on record as saying that Mighty Death Pop is as good as Milenko. Bang Pow Boom is a little bit lower than that.
Phantom kills too.

I agree with about all.of this. That track selection from both Links is almost exactly my list of best, too.
I actually would prefer to listen to MDP over Milenko most nights, too. Milenko is just like Sublime’s self titled album, Pantera “Vulgar Display of Power”, etc… played them so much that I can only enjoy the music if I take literal years off.

I can agree with that. Although I mostly go to their even older stuff if I want to give milenko and AJB a cool off – riddlebox and ring master, to be specific. those four are easily my top 4 joker cards. If I had to give it an order I’d probably say something like AJB>milenko>riddlebox>ring master>hells pit>shangri la>carnvial of carnage at least for the first deck. if I reaaally had to mix in sone of the newer ones in I’d probably put missing link lost before shangri la, and missing link found is waaaaaay at the bottom.

Let’s put it this way…
In 20 years, will anyone be paying to see a “The Marvelous Missing Link” anniversary show where they play one of albums in it’s entirety live? How about The Mighty Death Pop?
Exactly..
There’s a reason why people are most excited about nostalgia than new shit with ICP nowadays.
