My personal opinion on this matter will probably be irrelevant but I honestly think that it's time for a fresh sound, ICP's sound is just horrible they've been using this sound the last 2 cd's and most of the shit they been doing since MEC been back. I honestly think it's time to bring Mike P back into the mix. I think he's back on psy but i'm not sure, but I would honestly really enjoy MEC and Mike P both working together in the studio maybe to just give MEC a little break and to be able to give some creative ideas. I think MEC has just had way too much on his plate anymore. Dude has done how many cd's since on PSY, everything is sounding the same anymore. The synthy happy beat shit gotta go. I don't want it anymore. It's time to go back to your roots or like anything this group is gonna take a hit. I don't know how you guys feel bout any of this but this is how I feel. I'm sick of hearing shit that just sounds like shit. The lyrics are still there I'll give J that, but the beats are bland, boring and no fun anymore. Theres no hard hitting bass lines, no in your face style beats or any of that. Where's the brass, strings or eerie sounds we used to get? Or the in your face type guitar riffs/chords? Shit sucks anymore. I understand over time shit evolves but there not even evolving really, it's been the same sound. You can say what you want bpb and MDP sound like shit beat wise. This isn't the MEC I grew up listening to for how many years. He's produced 5 cards and lotus and you're telling me this is what we get? Or even blaze's cd? Are you serious? Boondox's last album was actually produced quiet well. Dude's got it in him I just don't know where the fuck it is.

I still like M.E.C.'s production. Maybe that's an unpopular opinion around this forum, I don't know, but I thought B!P!B! and MDP were both pretty good, death pop being the better of the two.
At least this wasn't yet another speculation thread about what the next card's gonna be called, or what its message will be, or what it looks like.

I think they need to shake it up maybe do a record with a live band. That does not necessarily count Mike E or P out, either could play guitar. It would be very cool to see where they could take that sound and it would be a fun tour, something different.
They should work very hard on the hooks because in my opinion that is what's hurting them now, musically. Whoever produces it, they just need to channel some new energy on the choruses. That's my opinion.
Memo to myself: Check out more Midnight Syndicate. Not regularly my style of music to listen to, but that sounded fairly atmospheric and had a interesting vibe.

theres a difference between stealing beats & not clearing samples.. clearly psy did the latter.. its only mike p's fault if he didnt tell them about it.. which i doubt he did

Get Joe Strange to produce this next Joker's Card....And for fucks sake I hope its some real Wicked shit...BPB was just terrible,And Death POP wasnt much better.I think for this new Deck J wants a "Happy Sound" sprinkled with mild wickedness.FUCK THAT. I get ICP is in a better place now then they were back then, and that makes it harder to make that kinda Pissed off music. But allot of juggalos are still dealing with bullshit on a regular.FBI,Haters,Bullshit economy,Ect....They need to channel that anger on a Joker's card. Its the only way the're gunna keep there core audience.

A part of that born of the night sounded like the opening to mirror mirror but other than that I couldn't pick up anything that they sampled. What am I missing here?
*edit... There is another part that sounds like the beginning of "walk into the darkness"

the noise at :44 & the keyboard at 1:13 are both sampled in the intro of mirror mirror.. as well as the heartbeat.. & seeing as fritz produced that entire project you cant blame mike p for it.. psy most likely had those albums as stock sounds on deck to use & be sampled.. then again mike p built the lotus pod so he prob stocked them..

Oh ok I just saw that article nobodyfresh posted with the vids. I didn't know mike p did both mirror mirror and tales from the lotus pod. That's where the majority of the beats are sampled from

I thought I heard stuff from Everyday I die and Hells pit intro. Other things too but I have a ton of things running right now, can't focus on Haunted Nursery or Crypt of the Foresaken. They seem harder...disclaimer: [9]
You did.
A lot of separate parts were pulled from Crypt of the forsaken for the hells pit intro.
If you listen to all of them you'll hear they sampled a SHIT TON of these songs all over hells pit.
So between mirror mirrorr and Hells Pit you can only deduce that they knew what the fuck they were doing and just figured they wouldn't get caught.

I'm still not seeing where all the hate for BPB and MDP is coming from...not a single track on either of those I truly can't stand, the worst tracks to me are miracles, ghetto rainbows, and vera lee. And theyre all three great in their own way, I just don't like the way they were done.

In regard to all the production, Fritz did Mirror Mirror. Mike P did most of Tales from the Lotus Pod and MEC did the rest. Hell's Pit was produced by a wide range of people including Mike P, Fritz, Esham and even ICP (or just J) themselves.

As far as my opinion on this whole topic. MEC isn't the problem. BPB and MDP were made with the sound that J wants now. If J didn't want it he'd tell Mike to redo it. Remember, the producer works for the artist, not the other way around. Personally, while it is a different sound than their older CD's I have no problem with it and enjoy both albums more than some of their late 90's, early 2000's shit. Early to mid-nineties were obviously better but what they've done lately has been much more enjoyable to me than AJB, Bizzar's and Hell's Pit (easily the worst CD they've made IMO).
