This doesn’t really matter, but it has been eating away at me.

What is your opinion on the skit at the end of suicide hotline? Do you think that phone call saved his life, or, do you think he is inviting her over so she can find him in the chair with his thoughts behind him? I know the background music is uplifting, but I am still not sure.

I like to think he’s effectively faking his own death & framing her for it.

I always took it that he was trolling the suicide hotline and afterwards he got snatch and blazed a blunt.

I always thought that it was like he’s all emotional about to kill himself, then all it takes is a chick calling and he’s like nevermind I’m cool.

Honestly I always found it mainly comedic, but also I think that it speaks to the need to feel wanted by other human beings.  There’s always stories about all it takes is a smile from a stranger to change someone who is about to kill themselves’ mind.  And also about how it is so easy to get wrapped up in your mind and your emotions when you’re alone, but all it takes is a phone call from a homie to bring you back to reality.  Like, no, you have not been missing for a year with nobody looking, hang out with these chicks and feel better now.  lol that’s my two cents

That he said to bring some blunts makes me feel like he wasn’t about to have her find his body or anything like that.

It’ll be interesting to see if a lot of others took it the finding his body way, since music can be so personalized to the listener I wonder if that ending means something totally different to other ninjas.   Cool question

Good question. My default thought has always been that he mellowed out instantly when the girl called. Then he asks her to bring some blunts. Now I’m thinking maybe he tells her and her friend to stop by so they’ll come over and find him dead, panic and call the police, so they’ll get busted for possession. Essentially, giving them a horrific night, a terrible memory that they’ll remember forever.

To me, he just wanted to make a dope track and then smoke some blunts..

So ya, I’m pretty sure it ended on the positive tip.

I pictured a crank yankers puppet while listening to the song. And he definitely got the booty. She even knew the routine to bring a blunt. And she brought a friend. No way he’s trying to kill himself with that setup.

My impression of the story since I first heard it has always been that the call is sarcastically serious with the final moral being that: sometimes, no matter how bad things might get, all ya need are a couple bitches and a blunt and the world gets a lot better…

But that would kind of defeat the purpose of it being Hell’s Pit, the ultimate negative. There shouldn’t be any positivity. It would actually fit the theme of the album better if that song ends on a negative note.

i was just typin up this, exactly.  only in completely different words.  have to start over.

ending makes the song.  that aside, its kind of a violent j do-over of biggies suicidal thoughts, or a few other similar songs.

the twist at the end is the shit, cuz it can be interpreted two ways, and still works as a twist, either way.  cute gag.

[edit]  typo fix.

This right here! That’s exactly how I picture it in my head and how I broke it down.

Kudos to an intriguing thread idea! This is where it gets fun.

I never thought too hard about the slkit, but was always a bit confused by it.

Is it J’s last lingering sunshine burst from Shangri-La’s vibes, before the Clowns sink into the reality of Hell’s Pit? A positive ending to dissuade the Juggalo listeners from using the track as a manual to off oneself, then blaming it in a suicide note like peeps did with esham, Ozzy, et al?

Fuck, almost no dude would want to die the moment two cute chicks want to come blaze and probably ride his rodney. After they,l left, maybe. But I now see the sinsiter, cynical note ya’ll perceived, and I love it. Thank yall.

Now that I’m thinking about the album, I realize for me, it’s probably the best work from both of them from a writing perspective. There are all kinds of lines in that album that hit like a fucking sledgehammer. I kinda miss that about them.

Oh and as far as the song, they probably added it in there because the album is so fucking heavy the they wanted to lighten it up a bit.

Hell’s Pit is so listenable to me. Like I crave it sometimes.

In the daytime it seemed cartoonily wicked and neat. But I recall one night when I was driving back solo from PA to NY, in the dark ass night for an hour drive, and it seemed like the album showed it’s true nature…. it was evil as fuck and had me in its clutches .

This^. I think you hit it on the head. Like the song “Angels Falling”, J rapping about shooting angels out of the sky, looking for the woman he once loved that had died. It creates such a vivid mental image doesn’t it? I imagine a red sky, a zombie looking Violent J shooting angels through the chest and hearing a thud when they hit the ground. A big bloody splat! And the only reason the image is so vivid is because the lyrics/beat were perfect. That is something that is missing from ICP’s music these days. Not saying I don’t enjoy the new shit, cuz I do. Just not as much after the first deck concluded.
