that was…… 6 minutes of distortion.very artistic.
i flicked through some of the other tracks.
we should do something. could be interesting.
Some of the other stuff is more sample based. I was practicing for what I want to do in the near future which is basically to collage with sound. I’ve been exploring found sound as an art form and there’s some really interesting stuff out there. It seems like fun.
The things I’m doing now which I’m not uploading until I get it how I want utilizes audacity in a way I never have. I’m loading samples and drum sequences into different channels and flipping them backwards, applying all sorts of reverb, delay, echo, and shit, then flipping them back to normal so all the effects are back masked. It’s going to be interesting, I think.
And yeah, the summer of 69 is just lots and lots of distortion on a simple drum beat but then I kept changing the tempo so it starts really slow and then eventually the drums are at like 400bpm and are just a new type of distortion.
I don’t really do collabs musically because other people are serious about their work and I’m just high on cough syrup and bored lol

@robtidwell
yeah definitely on the same page as you about the Internet thing. The Internet is an ocean of people all trying to get noticed, little guys like us in hone studios aren’t even being searched for so its null to begin with tbh. Alright for fun like you say and good practice.
ah fuck it I mean I used to have the dream, but Im 30 now and never made it happen. In rap you Gotta start young because people seem to have a dick up the ass about older cats spitting. Too much getting baked and drunk and fucking around I guess ha ha. Oh well I’ve had a fun life.
I think open Mics and shirt would still be fun tho. The stage is a whole other playground. The Internet doesn’t showcase skill like a live performance does.

right and being on a stage helps you learn who really bumps your shit. People can give you all the platitudes they want when you got a new song online but if they’re bumpin your shit they’ll hit up your shows and bring homies.
A friend of mine was in an alt rock band and I loved her music. Genuinely. I bought her ep and her lp and a t shirt, but more importantly when ever she had a show in our area (which was like once a month) I went. And I took people who then bought their cds. You can’t really get that kind of traction off a sound cloud.

Indeed. There is literally a whole culture movement around gigging and live performance that is missed out online. The net blows for music actually.
one thing though. I think you’ve mentioned it and a few people have mentioned the negative aspects of a home studio. These are of course pretty obvious, but tbh if you do it right you can build a proper home studio and rock it to the point you can’t tell the difference. I think Necro said he only works with Pro Tools and a big hard drive. His shits on par quality wise(although his vocals sounded horrible back in the day imo). Depends on how fast you want results I guess.

actually yeah, i think it’s pretty easy to make a home studio that doesn’t suck. I think a lot of people just record on their regular PC though without much consideration. You can literally hear it in some peoples voices that they’re afraid someone in the other room will hear them. It sounds like ass.
On one of the tech n9ne dvds they show him working with roger troutman in what looks like a home studio. You can’t tell on the recording because they used professional quality equipment and they recorded like professionals.
I don’t think building one in your home is inherently bad, but you gotta invest in proper shit and you can’t sound scared that someone will hear you. That shit is my biggest pet peeve. So many dudes who just start out you can literally hear it in their voice like “oh shit mom heard me say the eff word”.

well, i mean serious as in like… cares about what they’re doing lol. And I don’t know about you. I was speaking in general. When I ran killmusick the rappers I knew were all professional dudes like KGP and Prozak and Insane Poetry. Hardly anybody i would have bothered with my bullshit.
i made a song about shitting my pants…… because i ate a $5 curry.
im not professional, never will be. i just let my brain write what im feeling.
so yeah, if you ever feel the need to do some work together. lets make disturbing things for people to chew on.
