I was playing into the echoside and was looking at all the cards that feature the wraith on them. A thought came to mind when looking at how detailed , realistic and bad ass the wraith looks in these cards. The way the wraith is presented in this game made me think more about the character itself rather than what the character represents and does. I started to wonder what does the wraith look like under that cloak. What are its facial features in response to different scenarios. If it thinks than what does it think of itself and its environment. Then I thought that I would actually enjoy the sixth card of the second deck to be the wraith revealed. A joker card from the pov of the wraith. The cover could be an uncloaked wraith revealing what it actually looks like. I know this probably wouldn’t fit with the way the second deck is being set up but I think it would be a unique experience.  

It could fit…..In some cultures if the grim reaper uncloaks to look upon him is instant death similar to his touch. Interesting thought homie. Very deep.

I missed that thread….would the theme be a kinda “Good meets Evil” idea or more of a which issue we let consume our lives thing or what? I mean with such a card what could the message be?

I could be wrong but I seem to remember a few people getting their hands on the image of an outline of a face a few months before the wraith was revealed. Shat-Upon was one of them. Remember him?
I remember the image had a pointy goatee and horns and I thought “this is fake”

Well when the wraith came out it did in fact have horns so that made me think, way back when, “did they originally plan to have it’s face revealed on the inside cover and scrap it?”
Keep in mind the people I saw posting the face could have just got lucky with the horns and the image had nothing to do with the Wraith. I can dream though.

I’m big into mythology building so this is right up my alley. Dope thread.

With the building of the second deck, the first two were ways that you can die. Both were explosions. One from within, the other from outside our bodies. I had hoped all six would be like that, with the last one being like what will YOUR wraith look like, with art having all of the second deck as the wraith. But that didn’t pan out. 

I think the face outline was fake. We had the silhouette of the sixth long before we had the face and the horns probably came from that but it’s been too long.

The face of death is a mystery though and should remain as such until we die.

The original line was “there will be 6 faces of the dark carnival, after all 6 have risen the end of time will consume us all” I think. Considering ajb had 2 faces plus the previous 4, the wraith is the end of time(death)therefore it has no face.   

I’ve always loved this theory.  It’s a funny little twist.

Btw, I remember back when J was prone to revealing too much info back in the day, he revealed that there would be a mirror inside the booklet of the sixth, revealing it to be ourselves.

This was before the name and image was revealed at the 2002 Garnering, but after the silhouette was revealed at the 2001 Hatchet arising Tour, I believe.

This would be pretty cool. I remember reading somewhere J saying that the 6th of this deck will be basically the same “story” as the first deck.  Meaning, Heaven & Hell again.  I kinda thought it would be cool if the 6th was the Wraith again but with “Purgatory” as the theme of it.  I guess that wouldn’t be as epic of an ending though.

I think you’re referencing the message in the Bizzar Bizaar booklet.  Where you have to like, figure out what the message is by unscrambling letters and shit.

Sometimes I hate the reveal of the baddies in film. Mystery is so much more terrifying.

Once you see the “monster”, it is so much more vulnerable. No matter how terrifying. That’s why I liked “The Mothman Prophecies”. It fucks you up. And you never truly see it. Or understand it’s intentions.

“Stranger Things” was excellent, but I wish we never got a close-up glimpse of the monstuh.

I love the reveal. I want to see the monsters right away and perhaps even their lair. lol I really enjoy back stories to the bad guys and experience it as first hand as possible.  

that’s cool, I just find the unexplained to be so much more scary.
