thats not quite how remastering works.
Actually it is, depending on what remastering process was used, such as cleaning up the accapellas, fine tuning the vocals, adjusting the peek levels. All studios use many types of remastering/remixing/revamping. Some studios strip down a song to the original bare track and remaster it. No idea which process was used, maybe they only turned up the full track. Who knows.

cleaning up the acapellas and fine tuning just vocals is definitely not mastering, its’ mixing
J said they didn’t have the recording files for riddle box, just the final songs and a couple instrumentals, so they wouldn’t be able to mix

wow, everyone doesn’t seem to be to impressed with this release, lol. I think the biggest issue is they over hyped it and over priced it (if you ordered from HG). They should have just announced the album is up for sale on HG without any promotion… without the months of hype I think people would be a bit more happy with a surprise release but of course they would sell a ton less which is what matters at the end of the day.

To me, the remaster is almost an insult, to be honest. Riddle Box already sounds perfect, note for note, sound for sound. The remastered version is an abomination! I haven’t heard it yet, but anytime I hear something different from the original it’s going to make me cringe. I mostly bought it for the booklet. I’ve already heard almost all the outtakes online so that’s not a huge selling point for me.
So the remaster is an abomination, yet, you haven’t heard it. Along with magnets, can you tell me how that works?

So now that some of you have received the remaster and hopefully had a chance to check it out, what do you think? For me, it’s pretty much what I was hoping for. Some remasters these days from albums that were recorded 20+ years ago get overly worked and sound way too loud and glossy. But The Riddlebox remaster is a nice update without taking away from the intended vibe of the album. I also really enjoyed the track by track comments in the booklet. It definitely had a lot of insight on the process of making the songs, which was cool. I guess I’ll have to check out this Gong band they referenced multiple times. The Oddities disc is pretty much BS. I think I would have enjoyed it more if the disc was all the instrumentals from Riddlebox instead of the other shit.

At least I know the name now, don’t hafta refer to it as, “the song at the end of 17 Dead,” anymore.
Haha right? What I’m wondering is whether or not J and Shaggy think this is a Riddlebox outtake legitimately and have totally forgotten it was on Beverly Kills. It seems a hefty mistake to put it on this CD from a completely different era.
As for the rest of the disc – it’s pretty OK, I guess… I tend to make my own bootleg ICP albums from the outtakes, featured tracks, forgotten freshness, etc. I take songs from a specific era that aren’t featured on an official ICP release and make my own mixtape out of it. I can’t be the only one who does this…
At any rate, my point is I already have most of the songs on this Oddities cd, save for the skits and instrumentals. So sadly, this disc doesn’t add much to my already vast collection of songs.
and now i'm gonna be performin at Juggalo Day WHUT

When the announced there will be outtakes from the riddlebox I knew it was BS, they have had 5 forgotten freshness albums… I knew all the good outtakes have been released. lol. I thought.. what the hell could really be left?… and I was right, lolHonestly, there are more. If you can get your hands on Mike E. Clark’s “Joker’s Gallery” CD, you’ll see. Honestly, I figured that’s what they were going to release when they said they “found a whole album worth of shit in Mike Clark’s collection.”
pretty much this
