Remember picking up an album and being excited to see what flavor is coming your way from Psychopathic records! So much hype for a record including street teams, samplers and even a taste of the new shit on tours that had you dying to pick up the new release the second it came out. What the fuck happened to this? All you get anymore if anything is a shitty thrown together youtube video a few weeks before the shit comes out. You have an artist drop something and only a small amount of ninjas even know its out. zero hype after the album drops like a dope tour to promote it or anything. Big hoodoo who? oh yeah that one dope ninja who drops a record and is hardly ever heard of again. How can an artist wanna be on a label like that? I mean Psychopathic is the place to be if you are a wicked shit artist but not if you get no luv or push from the label that should be building you up and making you better everytime around. I can see where Twiztid and Blaze wanted out just for the simple fact that they wanna grow and get bigger and better-not take a step back and not even promote there shit ya know. I love the shit that comes out of the hatchet for the most part but why get away from the shit that made you one of the biggest underground labels in the game, mad promotion and getting ppl geeked for flavor thats on the way. I miss that shit!  RANT OVER!

Hoodoo was suppose to be on the second leg of the mdp tour that never happened….I agree thou, and hoodoo was suppose to have a third video for his album- so wtf happened with that?? And instead of putting him on the big balla lineup, hes doin the show with abk which was IMMEDIATELY overshadowed by icp event. Nuthin wrong with a abk/hoodoo show but how u gonna screw abk over like that and take money out of his pocket???

abk aint twiztid.  hes mad lucky to have any money in his pocket to begin with.

so is hoodoo, honestly.

this whole ‘no promotion’ thing has been blown out of proportion.

how many juggalos legitimately didnt know abominationz was coming?  not many.

how many juggalos chose to download the album for nothing, instead of shelling out for it?  fuckin lots.

which factor took more money out of twiztids pocket?

its not [necessarily] violent js job to promote twiztid, its twiztids job to promote twiztid.  everything they are doing to promote themselves now, they couldve done while still on the label.

but they didnt.  probably, because they were content to have psychopathic spend the time and money on this sorta stuff, so they wouldnt have to.

for the record, i think that hoodoo has a lot of potential.  im very interested to see what he comes with next.

also for the record, no, i havent bought his album yet.  i most likely will soon, though, contributing my two bucks.

didnt buy abominationz, either, but i probably wouldve, if i hadnt been broke at the time.  by the time i found employment, twiztid was off the label, so, no telling who gets the two bucks.  im not overly thrilled by what ive heard from the mixtape, havent got that yet, either.

Own n paid for Abom during PSYs 3 dollar CD blowout. I still haven’t heard all of the latter two, so I haven’t voiced an opinion. The “Down With Us” video sounded good. “Hexed” was OK. That’s pretty much all I can speak on.

DJ Clay also got zero promotion. Except a release party in Cleveland, which I went to, and was dead af. But that’s probably his best mixtape yet.

Anyone who thinks blaze is going to get bigger is kidding themselves, and hosting a “ugh” dosent do shit for your career,i mean look at some of the hosts they have in the past, laughable

Blaze has always been lazy, he never wanted to promote himself, never wanted to write his own music, could barely remember his shit on stage, never tried to create his own merch, never tried to book his own tours, nothing. He leaves psychopathic and whats he done? gone everywhere with twiztid like a shadow and thats it, hes been gone since before august(for all we know) and he hasent had a tour, hasent released a new song, hasent brought out merch, hasent created ANY buzz. All he wants to do is sit back and let someone else do the work for him and collect a check. I give it 3 years before twiztid gets tired of having to do everything for him and realizes why psychopathic treated him the way they did. Once they kick his ass to the curb, where will he go? back to psychopathic, talking about “oh i’m sorry i left”. I honestly think twiztid will be back at some point to. A New Nightmare sucked, there is no two ways about it, they are going out and doing horror conventions…….good for them, releasing merch, selling a few here and there, but once their overheads catch up to them and they realize how much easier it is to have a label pay for all the day to day shit they will come back.

Good music promotes itself. I really liked Twiztid’s new mixtape it seemed overhyped & shit but Wasted, Sick man, and Down wit Us are amazing. I doubt Twiztid Blaze or Roc with ever return to Pys seeing as things are going great for them and it seems like they’re being thrown new oppurtunities since they’ve left Psychopathic prolly because no body wants anything to do with someone who has something to do with ICP.

I was hype as fuck from that “shitty thrown together” music video for Hexed. It flipped my wig, as most news of anything new psy related does. And again, I wouldn’t have bought abominationz or heard of twiztid (as soon as I did anyways) if not for the leaflet in inside MDP. Also, ICP has been bringing HooDoo with them everywhere, and created a nice sense of mystery and buzz for his first live concert at the GOTJ by making it a secret when and where he’d be. HooDoo is gettin pushed hard enough by my standards. And one last note on Twiztid, by the time they left they were as big or some could contend biggER than ICP in the juggalo world and certainly had/have the money and industry knowledge (as can be proven by their current independent success) to push their own shit, organize their own tours, shoot their own vids, etc. one of the things that comes with growing up is taking care of yourself. Which is why, since they had to handle their own shit anyways, they made the business decision to move out of mom and dad’s and get their own house. Pretty sure jamie or mono put it that way in an interview too. I mean shit, why wouldn’t they leave if it meant the same/ever so slightly more amount of work without having to pay dues to psy? It’s just business. No hate anywhere to anyone, just facts as i see them.

TL;DR psy promotes most ppl’s shit just fine, and the people who don’t get pushed are well known and paid enough to do it themselves, and Twiztid wasn’t getting fucked, they just wanted a bigger slice of the pie as any motivated intelligent person would.

I think it’s funny that people think Twiztid will jump back into psy over stupid shit when you have underground artists such as Mars and SickTanicK who are running their own labels just fine on their own with out being in the game for nearly as long as Twiztid has, nor being recognized nearly as much. They might not be filthy fucking rich (I wouldn’t know), but they are getting by and feeding themselves and surviving, which, assuming from Joe Strange’s input, Twiztid was barely doing on Psychopathic. So, what do they have to lose by doing it on their own?

As for Blaze, I don’t actually know the dude personally so for me to make any judgement call like that would be completely bogus and nothing more but speculation.

@scruffy You’d be surprised  how many people I’ve talked to that had no clue that Twiztid made a new album. Some people still don’t know about Abominationz. Even though there were tons of Abominationz flyers put up around the gateway mall. I think it was perhaps the Psy fucking up the Abominationz order and only getting 20,000 copies that may have resulted in them losing money. It’s a proven fact that illegal downloads have very little impact on record sales especially when artists are setting records in first week sales every other release. I honestly don’t know anybody that downloads an album and doesn’t end up buying it if they liked it. Unless they just couldn’t afford it. Especially since the bitrate of downloads just don’t live up to CD quality.

At the end of the day, the counter argument for whether or not Twiztid was promoted well enough was, “well everybody that’s already a fan knew about it” (which just is not true) but the point of promoting is not just to get the fans hyped up for the new album, it’s to gain recognition. Inform other people of who Twiztid is. Spread them to other people and create more fans for the future. So yes, Psychopathic did kind of fuck them over with promotion (for the record, that’s the same amount of promotion they all seem to have gotten for the past few years, even ICP) especially in comparison to how they promoted themselves (which is understandable, but damn) AND how they promoted Cold 187um which is kind of a slap in the face since they have been loyal employees to psychopathic for years. Yeah, they may owe Psy for giving them a chance, but Psy also owes them for how much money they have made off of them and for helping define the fan base, because in reality Esham, Twiztid, ABK, and Blaze all have a huge hand in defining the fan base. There is the argument that Twiztid could have promoted themselves, which is true, but what is the point of being on the label in the first place and giving them a cut if you have to do it yourself. They might as well leave the label and do it themselves so they can actually get both the promotion and all of the earnings from it. surprised

And it’s not like that makes J some greedy back stabbing fat fuck either.

Of course he’s going to promote the shit out of his own albums, duh.

Of course he’s going to promote the shit out of one of his idols, he’s only human.

Of course he’s going to promote the shit out of the new artist, because he had no fan base at the time.

It’s a lot of work just to juggle all of this responsibility around, especially for a high school drop out. Hell, some people can’t even do all this for themselves. J takes care of a whole label. Some times he fucks up. Shit, man, It’s not like he’s Alex Abbiss.

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/12……html?_r=0

That article pretty much sums up why ICP is becoming irrelevant and Psychopathic too for that matter. Their focus is on making noise for the industry to get noticed these days, not juggalos. As a long time juggalo it’s pretty crazy to see how their worst nightmare from back in the day of becoming irrelevant by selling out for mainstream acceptance is now their reality. I guess the forbidden fruit was just too tasty looking to not bite so shit I can’t say I’d do it any different. They had their run though and it was strong for years but it’s time to accept the inevitable. They’re not getting any younger either and they’ve lost their edge that drew people in in the first place.

As far as artists on the label, I get the sense most of them are just along for the ride and don’t take their careers seriously anyway. Labels aren’t needed anymore and they can do it themselves if they believed in themselves. Which I doubt they do. So there’s really no room to complain when they’re not pushed hard by the label. Twiztid eventually manned up and left. ICP left labels back in the day for the same reason.

You have to be a fucking idiot if you think they are any less relevant than they ever were. They have been irrelevant for years, just 5 years ago nobody even knew what the fuck a juggalo was. Now days, just about everybody knows who ICP and juggalos are.
