The 6th was the shit. The best time of their careers I think. I don’t know how Clark would have made the 6th sound different, who knows, but I like Mike P’s work. It was a great album front to back. I remember November 5th picking up the CD at the local store by me. Came with a DVD I forget which one I picked up first but the album is great. The remix albums were stale sauce.

the wraith and hells pit were done musically by the same guy mike p. yet to my ears they seem like night and day as if done by 2 different people. while I thought the wraith was bland and I hated their rapping/singing(I thought they sounded too regular compared to the variety of higher rappingstyles they use on most their albums) despite that i thought hells pit was epic and they got back on track.
so that must mean they told mike p they were looking for something not as wicked sounding for the wraith and save all the wicked stuff for hells pit.that would explain to me at least why I think the wraith is weak, cause compared to their previous albums it sounds to me like standard regular rap backing tracks one would find on a snoop dog album.
but I understand this is a sore issue, I can easily see here some hold the wraith in high regard. no problem I’m glad people like it.
not everyone loves every album.

Mike P wasn’t the only producer on hells pit. Violent J and Esham and I think lavel produced songs for hells pit
Yep. Plus if you read the very descriptive Shangri La notes, Mike P sent his music through mad people. It was tweaked and fucked with by many. I’ll have to break that sucker out and peep it again.

esham did as many as mike p did on hells pit.. 7 i believe.. fritz did 2 as well which happened to be my 2 favs..Lemme guess… suicide hotline and truly alone?
good guess haha
Too beat to check for sure from my hardcopy I got somewhere in my man cave, but wikipedia says fritz did “suicide hotline” and “CPKs” and “truly alone”. All dope tracks. . Interesting fact there too, how J said he wanted it to go back to the COC “minimalist sound”. I’ve always felt that it was a minimalist sound on purpose, just to drive in the despair, insanity and overall “not happy” Hell vibe. Shangrila = overproduced (respectively), Hells Pit = underproduced (respectively).

never really thought about it like that, but kinda right.
I really feel like it was intentional to set the tones and establish what they were trying to say through the music end. J said something like “i want shangrila to sound like five hot chicks licking the listeners balls” or something (If the listener is a female, then them clowns really accomplished an amazing auditory feat hahaha…)
Then he said for Hell’s Pit he purposely went off his meds, starting seeing things. Like some random chick sitting in a chair starting at the wall. Whether its true or not, that wily SOB has always been able to hype his band’s new shit . He could sell a Tickle Me Elmo to a snake oil salesman. And its awesome.
