Am I the only one that can’t stand singing in rap tracks?  I mean, if the chorus said the same thing in a hardcore serious voice…the song would just be so much better and darker. (And, since the track is about the devil, I think that darker would make sense).

Ninja that I’m chillin with says that he actually likes the song a lot (besides the singing part).

I think that it doesn’t compare to the likes of Halloween on Military Street etc.  The second half of the song is pretty good though.  Not something I would listen too very often… but I don’t listen to the new CDs very often either.  They’re finally starting to grow on me though, so maybe this song will too.

Unfortunately they’ll never release a Hallowicked track again that compares to your above mentioned. Or anything on that first Hallowicked compilation album for that matter. That’s not to say some of the tracks haven’t been decent over the past few years, but when held in comparison to ’94-’05 it’s no contest.

The song starts off with some promise but ultimately I’m not into it. Maybe it’ll grow on me. I agree that it seems to clearly be a Lost b-side. I think Young Wicked is a talented guy and everything, but his shit doesn’t work for me on this one. Even just having J sing the same hook in his style would have probably been a better fit for the tone of this song.

this is about what i thought.

not a fan of it when they dont record a dedicated hallowicked song, usually, but i do still mostly dig the tracks anyway.

out of those [mr johnsons head, sleepwalker, toxic love, if i ate your brains, i saw a monster, amber alert, and now haunted by the devil], i like the new one the least, though.

just noticed…  next years song [assuming its on topic] will be the 24th hallowicked song, but the 17th halloween song.  maybe they wanted it to be a followup to the 17th gathering…

Well, it’s official. I don’t like a Hallowicked track.

Song is fine, sounds like another outtake that should have been on Lost over a few that actually made it. Just wish their hallowicked tracks would stick to halloween imagery.

well considering just blaze(the producer of no love) jacked it from a hadaway song from the 90’s, its not really otis jacking it from no love

just blaze jacked the melody from haddaway, after he paid him ..Otis jacked the bass from just blaze, without permission

a lawsuit once again from a psy producer

lol

dunno why this never registers, but…

they are perfectly capable of suing, and winning, whether or not money is made.

look it up.

that ‘but, but, i didnt sell it!’ excuse does NOT hold up in court.

That bass line is so fucking generic that you could connect it to plenty of other songs if you tried.

What would be the damages?

okay, i cant quote a number off the dome, but yes, punitive damages apply, and yes, there is a minimum.  its on the close order of ten thousand.  meaning, if sought and awarded, punitive damages start at between ten and ninety-nine grand.  im sure its closer to ten, but twenty, twenty-five wouldnt surprise me.

thats minimum.  the maximum is fuckin astronomical.

They’d get cease and desist.

if the plaintiffs were being nice about it, sure.  but that is not a prerequisite.

In hip hop you usually don’t get sued unless you’re selling it though. Usually. Never have heard of a case where a rapper was sued over a free song.
