the Lost intro is kind of a play off SPM’s “Bloody War” so that was fresh lol as far as the album as a whole?…I can see why some songs were left off and the majority sound a bit under-mixed but there’s definitely some keepers…could have taken a bunch of these songs and the Phantom songs and made a whole album from that…no solid concept just fuck it let’s put it out there lol…there’s one song on here that sounds a lot like Delusions of Grandeur and In Love With A Hooker basically mashed together and a lot of these feel like the concepts and subject matter was covered in other songs that did make the ML albums so it probably came down to what they preferred at the end of the day

After listening to The Outtakes album, I have to think that ICP doesn’t know what their fans are looking for. Let me start with the fact that I really enjoyed both Lost & Found. However, between The Phantom EP and the pure fire that was on The Outtakes album I almost feel upset now for what those Joker’s Cards could have been. How did songs like “Neighbors Are Fighting” make the cut but not “The Dream” or “Benopryl”? These outtakes aren’t quite like the ones that came with The Mighty Death Pop. These, for the most part, not only should have all been on the albums, but they would’ve most likely been the top tracks. Once again, really enjoyed Lost & Found for what they are, but I felt like with the inclusion of some of the Phantom & Outtakes tracks they could’ve felt like JOKER’S CARDS.

I totally agree and made similar comments in the thread about how the outtakes album has shipped. I even went as far to say that if “The Carousel” was the last song on their last album ever, it would work. Instead, it’s ended up as an outtake? Get the fuck outta heeeeya. I would have liked Lost WAY better if it included pretty much all of the Lost outtakes in place of some of the more “meh” tracks like “Neighbors Are Fighting”, “You Should Know”, “I’ll Keep My Hatchet”, and a couple others. Toss in the title track “Phantom” and you have a seriously awesome ICP album.
Oh well, the cool thing is that it’s all out there. While we may disagree with ICP’s tracklist choice, at least we get to hear the songs and enjoy them.

two things:
one, ima have to buy this. no, i didnt buy it, but im gonna. might buy found, maybe; will buy outtakes, certain.
two, ima probably have to write a big, dumb, song-by-song review of it [after givin it a couple more spins], just cuz i feel like i owe it, after the last couple i wrote.
third thing, as a side note: ima have to make it a point to bump to phantom again, too. just listened once, right after the gathering.
awfully paranoid, arent you?

Lost and Found are awesome, adding all these other badass tracks would have over saturated the releases with too much flavor. Would you stick a gang of wasabi in your mouth? Hell no.Too much is too much this was an awesome idea. The albums Lost and Found contain the complete concept of what their all about, the outtakes are the bomb and do well on their own CD. People would probably take all the extra songs for granted if they where on the main album, lots of tracks would have been overlooked that way. ![]()

I just hate the beats that have been on TML Found, Lost, and Outtakes.
its all about personal preference…I personally really dig and welcome their new style…too much of the same gets old and I actually don’t think the ML sound is THAT much drastically different than their previous work (at least the more recent stuff)…gives them a bit more of a modern, dare I say mainstream sound and while I don’t think they’re selling out or anything like that it does provide the opportunity for fans of that more trap/Da Mafia 6ix style shit to check out ICP on their own and maybe become fans as a result

There’s a couple tracks that remind me of old school. Even with the beats. Some stuff sounds like new territory, some sounds classic, some sounds shangri-la-ish, some sounds experimental.
To just say, “I don’t like the beats,” is like saying, “I don’t like sandwiches.” Like… peanut butter and jelly? Turkey and cheese? Italian subs? Chicken parmesan? Meatball? Cheesesteak? You just flat out hate that someone put food between bread, is what you’re saying. That’s what I hear when you say, “I don’t like the beats.” They’re all different. You don’t like any of them?
exactly…my problem isn’t as much with production as it is with how they approached some of these beats…the repetitive style of Neighbors are Fighting and I Keep My Hatchet brought them down for me honestly and I agree with a lot of ppl that I woulda personally thrown those on the outtakes album and replaced with The Dream and and one of the others from Outtakes or Phantom lol…just wishful thinking though at the end of the day I still bought Lost & Found and will be grabbing the Outtakes album on payday too

Solid tracks. I woulda held onto them and released a “Lost” and “Found” EP or something next year. Or take out the filler and make one solid EP with it, and put everything else on a Forgotten Freshness album.
I fully agree… the outtakes and the Phantom EP, could easly be combined for a hell of a album/EP a year from now… I almost feel this is too much at once.

havent heard a single Phantom track yet…. heard House of Wax once and only through cellphone, it was very very solid even on the first listen. Haveent heard Outakes yet either. Gettin behind!!
I find myself going back to the Phantom more than I did for House of Wax and I thought HoW was a solid release.
And I may be one of the few that actually dug the Hoodoo track. I think its more for the sample/nostalgia and less for it being a Hoodoo track.

yeah, i dig this album. appeals to me more than lost or found. or both of em.
for the record, lost and found have grown on me a lil bit, but thats more me gettin used to em than really diggin em.
i cribbed an idea that some of yall were talkin bout in the other thread, and put together my own personal version of the missing link using tracks from lost, found, outtakes, and phantom. the lions share from the outtakes.
with some thoughtful song placement and a lil bit of minor editing, it made for a 19-track cd that ranks somewhere between ‘damn fresh’, and ‘best album since [insert dope album here]’.
and speakin of minor edits…
jus havin fun.
[semi-indemnifying legal yack: no, this track is not owned by myself, but is presented here as a demonstration for purposes of instruction/education/review, and thus would be covered by fair use, if it wasnt way longer than the legally allowable clip length. short as it is. point being, dont nobody sue nobody.]
awfully paranoid, arent you?
