Violent Joseph Bruce is just being real. Like mentioned above, you can't stay bitter if you managed to achieve ALL of your childhood goals and then some. Would it be realer if J went back to whipping bricks at hookers' faces in southwest Detroit? Getting stabbed until he shits his pants? He still entertains for a living and tells fictional tales of murder and mayhem, he'll never lose that insane edge to draw upon for creative music. But going soft? Nope, just smarter and respectful of responsibilities. Years ago I myself have hurt people with tire irons, been stomped, kicked people in the face during fights. You still have that urge but its a balancing act constantly. Is it worth it to harm someone and go back to jail so you're taken away from the ones that need you? Nah mayn. Dude seems greatful and wise to me

For a side note, I got married one July, went to jail for assault against a car jacker in August, got out and moved away that September. Ilearned what iI wanted after my short stay: to not be locked up with a bunch of annoying males. So I became a struggling pacifist and its been eight years since any altercation risks. Besides one situation lol.. anyway, is that "going soft"? Maybe. But being away from those ignorant irritating strange dudes and out being free is enjoyable enough. Fuck street cred.

Sugar Slam just seems a little forced to me, and like she's acting any time you see her doing anything. I just kinda perceive her as a bad actress. I'm sure she's a fine person, and Violent J has said great things about how involved she is with the kids and their schooling, so I don't have an issue with her. No hate from me, though I do wish they would have a little more genuine female face of the label too.

I've reached a point where I understand where he's coming from. He's old and lived life to the fullest. There is no more edge to him and he's gotten everything he's ever wanted. Gonna be tough for anyone to convince him he needs an edge again. But it happens with every artist that came from struggle to fame and wealth. They get wack musically. Just the way it is. There's a reason they had the drive in the first place and it sure wasn't to stay in the struggle that's for sure. Plus age plays a big role. He wanted to better his position and he got it and he ain't going back.

My only realistic wish is he loses that weight so he can sing and rap better again and be a better stage performer.

That's a well thought out comment Yay... its better said than the usual "violent j is pure evil and rapes preteen juggalo anuses after shows" comments that are inevitably peppered in these discussions. Let the man do what he wants. He's earned his place.

bingo

if they didnt send her outhere perpetuating every negative stereotype and make her spew the cringeworthy "wigger" dialogue, she wouldent be looked @ as such a stupid bitch.

they basically asked for her to be hated, so i cant say i feel bad or dont understand why

I wonder if J regrets making fun of the Beastie Boys now that basically the same thing happened to him. Get older, get softer. It just happens.

You can't be young, hungry, and pissed off your whole life.  When you have everything you've ever wanted and then some, it's hard to be mad about anything.  With that said, I'm still down with ICP's shit.  It's just going in a different direction now and I can see how not everyone's gunna be with it.

Plus people just get big heads. You hear how you're a god and a genius and amazing year after year you start believing it. Doesn't matter who you are. And boom goodbye forgetting where you came from and being humble. Especially when you come from nothing. Anyone who offers legit criticism ain't gonna be heard either because it's more fun to listen to people telling you how great you are. Egos are mother fuckers. We need em and yet they can ruin us too.

I think Sugar Slam is kinda hot.  Theres nothing wrong with getting married and giving your kids the life you never had growing up.  I'm sure J doesnt want lil JJ doin the things he did back in his Inner City Posse days.  I think thats more motivation to keep working hard to support the wife and kids.  I think ICP still make great music.  Thats just my opinion and I've been down a very long time.  I like the old and the new.  Things change as we all get older.

I agree with the whole losing weight thing.  I think he needs to get to the weight he was at during the Shangri-La era.  He used to be all over the stage, especially on the ABJ tour.  He was running everywhere on that stage then.

Does Violent J even have a neck any more?  VJ needs to lose weight...I am assuming the knee surgery could have been prevented with weight lose.  I do believe that the image of ICP is getting dinged because of his overweight and then add the fact he is over the age of 40.  However, I am pretty much down for life unless ICP starts doing opera.

Because he's a better performer when he's not huge. Not hard to figure out.
