so, i heard that insane mime posse is gonna drop a new single called ‘we all leanin on some fenceposts’.

im excited for it. they just re-released a sixth anniversary edition of their first album, ‘help im trapped in a box’, and it is phenomenal. you dont have to turn up the volume to really appreciate the silence; great job with the remaster.

I listened to 25 minutes of this and he got through 3 pages. Not only is this a very standard record contract, but its actually generous! If you read any major label contract, even from the 1990s when CDs were king, Artists usually get $0.20-0.50 per unit. This one was $1.00. No artist has ever made much from record sales, the label has always kept most of it. The advances and repayments it mentions are all standard. And the labels almost always keep the masters and the rights.

$10,000 is not that much to pay back when you consider that the Artist makes a cut of ticket sales on tour even as a new band, they’re guaranteed to make money.

Something that no one has mentioned is, does this guy think that the label writes a blank check and never asks for it to be repaid? The label is taking all the risk to invest in the artist.

After joining here i heard a lot about Chuck Reeves so i watched a few episodes. This was a short time ago when the march was pretty important. One thing that he said that really struck a chord with me was something along the lines of, if you dont want to be called gang members, quit doing gang stuff… After watching him a few times im with jings, dudes webisodes suck…
