Chuck is reading from actual documents, like he usually does. It’s not his opinion on what is in a Psychopathic Hatchet House contract. It’s fact what’s in a contract. And it’s really bad.
The point is that the artist doesn’t make enough money on the albums or the merch they sell, and there are many other things they have to pay out of their own pocket for such as paying for production of an album, music videos, etc, that almost make signing not worth it. This contract is a financial rape job. Part two is coming tomorrow. Chuck is going to expose the fucking that happens when it comes to merchandise.

So its the standard industry contract then?

It’s not surprising. I ordered that Turncoat Dirty shirt from Boondox, and it was shipped to my house with his personal return address label on it. So of course I had to Google Earth that just because I had to, and it’s a trailer park in Georgia. Even with 10 years of what should be fairly significant royalties. I know this is about percentage of what they get of any given sale, but he’s collecting from at least 2 major companies.

Which is 99% of music contracts. Everyone I know signed (even to larger labels like Universal) have this as their reality.
I also think people over estimate how many units Psy artists actually sell. Being popular and known in a sub culture of a sub culture doesnt exactly translate to a shitload of sales. I know artists that were festival touring and still had day jobs. I would be suprised if anyone other than ICP could live well solely off music in this circle.

This. So much this.
Also nobody makes people sign a contract. Any idiot who doesn’t show a lawyer a contract is walking into a mess they created.
If you really believed that all lives matter we wouldn't need to say black lives matter

Did Violent J fuck this guys bitch? Like the hard on for ICP/Psy in general that this guy exerts is unreal.
No one makes you sign a contract.
A contract can be renegotiated by both parties involved until agreed upon.
Sometimes you take a shitty deal to get exposure. People are still checking for Project Born decades later after his short stint with psychopathic so whatever payments he did/did not receive, I think was worth it. Juggalo fanbase is a rarity in which their attention spans towards Psychopathic artist seems to stretch a lot further than typical mainstream acts.
Hatchet House was used for underground, underground artist who probably had regular jobs and did not rely on their art to live in the first place. Coming up on 10k to escape their daily grind and be affiliated with a solid label and the perks that came with that would be more than fair.
(Dr.Dre made 2 cents per unit sold on Deathrow Records…2…Cents.)
Ms.Roze actually fucked Violent J so I would think her contract would be more than standard, wouldn’t you think?
Quija already had a fanbase so I would think his $ would be substantiality higher, as well as Lyte, considering both signed to the parent label and not the subsidiary one.
You think Lyte, Quija or Hoodoo ever left the country to tour before joining the label? Now these people have been to Canada and Europe because of rhymes.
Last, this is Chuck Reeves interpreting a contract, something Lawyers go to colleges for years to do! In the video he couldn’t even
A) Roll a blunt correctly.
B) Keep it lit.
C) Is a ginger, so he has no soul.
Challenge the source of information before considering it as truth.
