They don't make shit on their music. It costs them more money to print up those inserts than the $8 each CD costs at best buy.

It's all about DAT MERCH. And they sell far less of it now that it isn't in hot topic. Mall juggalos are broke and cant afford the internet.

They book shows for like 10g's out of that they probably get like 6. and then split it. So not as much as you would think.

But they made enough in the last 20 years to last their kids kids kids KIDS a lifetime. They some mitch bade millionaires.

J sadi they lost about $15,000 on last years gathering.  They lose money every year with it.  I dont know how much they make themselves, but Psychopathic Records brings in about $10 Million a year.  They make loads of money off merch.  Too many cheap asses out there downloading music for any artist to make much off of albums aymore.  Dont know why Ryda is ahtin on them for making millions.   We all buy thier merch, albums and go to their shows, and they have other successful acts, so of course they will be loaded after 20+ years.

Celebrity networth last year had J and Shaggs valued at 30 Million each. Updated this year and has them Valued at 15 Million each. And of course they loose money with the gathering due to a shit ton of idiots.

When promoters say they "lost money on the event" it just means they didn't get back as much as they expected to in profits. It's like how Elton John was "bankrupt".

I don't know where you got that idea.
First of all the only albums that cost $8 at Best Buy or FYE are used ones and EPs. Last copy of White Pop I saw was $17 and change.
Secondly, it costs *nothing* to print CDs. It was always hella affordable and its significantly more so now, and if you buy it at Hatchetgear they get *all the profits*. Everywhere else, profit distribution is varied but how many sources are those profits coming from? Fucking iTunes, Spotify, Rdio, Moog, Amazon, Best Buy, FYE, whatever other record dinostores still exist.. In other words, WAY More than ever before. All with different versions that some ninjas just gotta have.

A random point I'd like to bring up here that I don't think people realize; Psy has been pretty good about getting their shit on Spotify and other streaming services. Why? Because yes, while you may hear a lot about how artists don't make shit off Spotify deals, that's still a source of revenue that never existed for them before. Now instead of making no money off streaming, they're making some money off streaming. They probably have more points in that than what TLC did for CrazySexyCool.

I can't speculate on how much money ICP or psy has made (except to say that it is certainly "millions", as not only claimed by themselves, but evidenced by their being multi-platinum, multi-gold, (occasionally international) tourers, and merchandise gods), but what I can say is that there's a reason the entire world is noticing that the juggalo market is the only one that's expanding, putting out four different versions of their albums and having everyone buy each one, instead of nobody buying a god damn thing and downloading the fuck out of it. It's because they're making fat fucking money. Independent artists are selling more physical copies than anyone out right now and ICP is obviously leading that pack just by virtue of how long they've been doing it and the generations of fans they've accrued in the process.

That's why EVERY band tries to have a juggalo-style fanbase now. I dunno if Beatlemaniacs or Elvis fans count so we'll say this *style* of fanbase has been around since Deadheads, followed very in a smaller and less organized way by "Kiss Army", yes? But if you look back at the late 90s/early 00's, you'll see a MASSIVE explosion of it out of nowhere, coincidentally at the same time that ICP began their foray into full-on mainstream awareness. In the early 90s if you really really liked 311 you might know about the excitable crew or you might be a bohab, but then half a decade or so later, all of a sudden you could be a Mansonite, a Maggot, a fucking Bedlamite, a KMKing or Kween or SubNoize Rat (or whatever other euphemism you prefer), The Dead Generation, Turbojugend, a member in the TOOL Navy... and now BAM, you can walk into walmart and become a Little Monster, an Animal, a Belieber, a Barbie, a Lamb, a Swifty, and you can support Team Breezy with out it conflicting with your belief in Yeezus.

Niggas know. Psychopathic's business model "just works", as they say.

if i may quote myself, from a similar thread from a while ago...

scruffy said, way back then:

it would be nice if that website's people had hired a forensic accountant to reconstruct icps income by analyzing music sales, adding in attendance rates for a given number of annual shows, factoring in revenue from merchandise, adjusting for capital investment, overhead, etc…

but the truth is they pulled that number from their anus.

HOWEVER, i myself once sat around trying to calculate it.  the result was on the order of $200,000 a year.  to clarify, that meant i could mathematicly prove that they made between $20,000 and $2,000,000 that year.  not very illuminating.

  awfully paranoid, arent you?

Is that income per artist, as in Joe and Joey? Psy total income? Management/founder salary?

What they spend on events like the gathering is certainly important to separate from take-home income, but saying they "only make" this or that and dismissing profits that fund label endeavors gives the impression that that money doesn't exist. To understand "what ICP makes" fully one would need to be aware of those numbers as well.

But more importantly, the difference between 20k and 200k is massive, especially if you're talking about ICP profits exclusively. If you mean psy as a whole, I can't imagine a scenario where they're only making 200k a year as an entire entity and would be hella interested in seeing how you got that figure.

At the end of the day, we support them. Millions, its all good. Shouldnt we as Juggalos strive for our own better living? I know we all make mistakes as people and thats a learning point for most. And yeah the government is a joke, But you cant dwell on that. I just try to keep moving forward trying to stay as positive as possible and make my own Million!
