If you aren't feeling something from the music that was once there in prior releases, it doesn't mean that it isn't felt by others nor that it is not there for you; it just shows you that you've taken a step forward along your path and that something you were once aware of has now become a part of you. You no longer need to carry it wherever you go, because it is right there inside you.
Nostalgia is a powerful thing, and music is one of its biggest triggers. I am positive that one day a song you aren't feeling today will have a profound affect on you in the years to come when you hear it at the right time.
That's just the way I look at it, I don't know if it makes any sense to you guys or not.
I agree and am self aware enough to understand that idea. BUT, I still do feel the magic in the older music, even Bang! Pow! Boom! had some magic in it for me. It's just this album in particular.. it lacks something to be desired. The song "Playin' In the Woods" was really the only one I felt those vibes for.. the rest seemed so.. mechanical and empty. Don't get me wrong I love all the tracks, could it be the skits? Those did seem lamer than most joker's cards. Still pretty decent though. I think it might be Violent J's fault. He seems tired and worn out.. or just.. not passionate. There's a lack of personality and feelings for the lyrics he's saying.. that might be it...
