HH: What do you think sets 9 Pistolas apart from anything else put out by Psychopathic?
Violent J: It clearly doesn’t sound like anything else Psychopathic has ever released. I don’t even know what to call the style of music it is. It’s like nothing I’ve ever worked on before. It’s a very musical record with a lot of singing. We don’t know shit about singing so we just did things our way and it turned out dope as fuck in our opinion. Legz Diamond is a singer not a rapper but this isn’t a rock album and its not an R&B album. There’s definitely nothing pop about it but it’s not a rap album either. It has attitude and aggression like most Psychopathic releases but it’s almost like a brand new style of music for us.

I think Sugar Slam has a decent voice but I haven't heard her sing outside of her monotone voice. Maybe she'll sing with some emotion for once.
And yeah J's really taking the whole 'family' thing literally. Guess the label is just his family anymore. Wonder how long before even the most hardcore whoopers get sick of it.

IMO the family era has been over for YEARS.. even the OG Psychopathic Artists are leaving the label slowly.. this new age has left a bad taste in my mouth, I know The Mighty Death Pop will end up close to being a "Classic" as well as B!P!B! five years from now, at least personally as I shuffle my large catalog of ICP tracks. Still, the "scene" is bigger than ever but at the same time is feels as if the "Dark Carnival" magic(k) is gone.
I'm just not getting those vibes anymore.. Although this has been said PLENTY of times..
I was curious if anyone IS feeling something as of lately? Any eerie goose pimples in the night? Any wonder and passion for what the next card will be? This is the first time I feel emptiness as I wait for the next release, despite still enjoying the music they are making. Is the gimmick just played out..? Well, no.. not for me. I can still put on "The Calm" and feel tons of paranormal energy. I can dive into any era of ICP-lore, but not this time. I like just about every track on The Mighty Death Pop!.. but there isn't any magic.. WHY?

Just my $0.02 on the whole "Where's the magic gone?" angle...
In my opinion, it is just down to growing and maturing as a person - the way we perceive things evolves and changes as we get older. For example; films we loved when we were kids no longer enthral as they did before, though we still love them. I was obsessed with Star Wars well into my early twenties, but now I don't talk about it so much outside of making pop culture references in passing conversation. I don't love it any less than I used to, but other things in life have become more important to me and my priorities of where my passions lay has shifted gradually over time.
If you aren't feeling something from the music that was once there in prior releases, it doesn't mean that it isn't felt by others nor that it is not there for you; it just shows you that you've taken a step forward along your path and that something you were once aware of has now become a part of you. You no longer need to carry it wherever you go, because it is right there inside you.
Nostalgia is a powerful thing, and music is one of its biggest triggers. I am positive that one day a song you aren't feeling today will have a profound affect on you in the years to come when you hear it at the right time.
That's just the way I look at it, I don't know if it makes any sense to you guys or not.

Growing up is definitely part of it. We all gain new interests. But come on it's not even the same record label anymore. ICP's music is so different now than it used to be. They used to have a style that worked and sold millions. People loved it. But they wanted more and wanted to appeal to the mainstream so they changed it up and it backfired on them. The label used to have this tight knit aura about it where just not anyone could make it. You really had to be the shit and bring it hard. They ended up building a great roster, Lotus (the core 5) and maybe ABK. It's what worked. But that wasn't enough either I guess so the label ended up falling apart signing everybody J wanted. What makes it even more sad is in J's own book he admitted talking about Project Born that he couldn't just put a hatchet man on anything and sell it to juggalos. But he ended up doing exactly that again since the book. Like he was mad all the great artists the label had were from Twiztid's camp or something and he was going to force everything he wanted down our throats. I don't know if his ego got out of control. I don't know if he just stopped caring and wanted to do what he wanted to do juggalos and the rest of the label be damned. Maybe he's bipolar and is never satisfied with anything. I don't know wtf happened. But the label that once was is no more and now Sugar Slam is called an "artist" there. Cold 187 had 2 music videos. When's the last time Twiztid had one despite still debuting top 20 on the billboards and being able to headline tours? What makes it even worse is one of Cold's videos was using Twiztid's own beat lol. I'm sure that made them happy. Shit we never even got a real Lotus video ever but we got one for Violent JJ and Dayton Family and Cold 187 and AMB and DJ Clay. Wow.
So yes growing up is a part of it but they aren't giving us anything to sink our teeth into either. It's just not special anymore. None of it. It's all played the fuck out and even MDP went down to discount prices pretty fast. ICP are the standard on how to build and grow a career and label on your own but they're also the standard on how to kill it just as fast with bad decision after bad decision.

and was that really her on Angels Falling??… cuz if so i guess i know what i cant really stand that voice….
My biggest beef with that chick is that I DO NOT wanna fucking watch her do anything…. I want my mutha fucking weekly freakly hosted by ICP, not Infomercials with her… If violent J should ever read this… and im sure he does from time to time… cuz it is fucking Faygoluvers..& Im pretty sure i speak for all of us, With no offense of course…..Nobody….and I MEAN NO FUCKING BODY wants to watch ur wife tell us about shit… not the gathering, not new bands, not concerts NOT NOTHING!…. If she has to say it, then i assume just not hear it… Granted i dont know her personally…. But i also have no desire too….
I tune in for ICP dressing up doing the weekly freakly, commercials, Wrestling, Skits, Jokes…. giving us (the fans) what we wanna see… hilarious shit by The wicked Clowns…
Now, i have been down for quite some years now, I have spent countless $$$ on the Wicked shit i love, im down til im dead in the ground…. But Seriously…ICP……LOSE THE SUGAR SLAM commercials, shows and back up vocals, if ur gonna let her make an album just do it and move on…Cuz its killing me as a fan to watch People i dont give even a slight fuck about tell me news i wanna hear from you guys (ICP)….AND THAT SHIT GOES FOR (CHOP) ALSO, unless ur making him do stupid shit which is entertaining, Most of us could give a fuck less what he is doing, kid couldnt cut a commercial to save his life…FAIL!
GRANTED! S.S. does not buff my pickle so clearly my opinion is substandard, maybe if i was rich and a chick blew me id let her do w/e the fuck she wants too… BUT I DOUBT IT!…….So needless to say if i was ICP i'd cut the crap and get back to showing the fans what they wanna see.
If u wanna pay someone to do dumb shows and commercials, Pay me... cuz ill @ the very least make it entertaining.
Also i hope she doesnt ruin this album for legz…

Why apologize? It's what all of us are thinking anyway. If he's gonna put her out there and call her an artist, she's open to any and all criticism. I do think she has a nice voice though but I'm starting to get sick of how she brings monotone to everything. Just like I'm sick of J's monotone raps. I'm sick of watching juggalos have this respectful attitude toward someone we know could be a trillion fucking times better than they are. Like we're in an abusive relationship LOL. The fact we treat them with so much respect makes them do whatever they want because they think everything they do is awesome because they hear that garbage all the time. And I'll be the first to say I'm guilty of that shit too. Not that we need to storm Psychopathic with pitchforks and torches but shit. We all love them for who they used to be and we accept mediocrity now from them. Fuck that we all need to change that and speak our minds honestly. Because all I'm watching is this label go down the shitter fast. Sometimes the truth is harsh but needs to be said. I feel we have failed as fans in that respect because ICP thinks they're untouchable now and they can do whatever they want. J brags and boasts more than he'll crack a joke anymore. That needs to change and it's partially our fault as fans supporting their bad decisions and music over the last decade.
