I was thinking of Southwest Song and I’m Coming Home, too, but if I really had to name just one song, I’d always say Prom Queen, I guess. This song got it all.
Prom Queen is so atmospheric and real, despite the fictional tale. From the very first words, J sounds defeated and demented. Great music. I remember in the book he talks about asking a pretty girl out, and she just laughs and goes up and farts on him in front of everyone. Like what kind of person does that? Kids in general are so anxious about displaying any kind of bodily function or expression like that in general (during the teen years anyway) but for a pretty, popular girl to just up and do that in public? That’s some straight wickedness right there. Great personal depths to mine for an emotional song. All the hurt, the embarassment, the insignificance, the rage, the dismay, the madness.
“I’d rather die…I’d rather die..”
But yes, Riddlebox and Tunnels of Love have lots of the best on there. Riddlebox, The Great Milenko.
Just to switch it up, I’ve always been partial to “Crossing Thy Bridge”, “In Yo Face”, “Never Had it Made”, “Mad Professor”, “Night of the Chainsaw”, “Flamethrower”, “Take Me Home”, “Ok” for slightly more obscure favorites… but there’s so many more

Lots of great songs in there!! I have basically my whole music collection on the tablet I bring with me in the car and it’s always on random. And there are plenty of times I just sit there and constantly skip songs if something comes on that I’m not in the mood for, but then there are the ones that I always have to let play out and sing along to. A few obscure examples from my end:
Jacobs Word
Almost anything on Bizaar or Bizzar
I Didn’t Mean to Kill Him
House of Wonders
To Catch a Predator (ALWAYS!!!)
Just to name a few!

my favorite song changes all the time, but right now, its probably-
hm.
evil is afraid is a pretty good one to go with. been bumpin that one a lot lately.
yeah, too many.
too many to even make a short list of songs that tend to be my ‘top favorites’ again and again. tried to just now, got to a over dozen real fast.
current era only, the midway runs away with it. may end up contending for the top slot.
awfully paranoid, arent you?

Ya, it’s time I go back and revisit the vast assortment of tracks to determine a favorite for the new year. For years it’s been “The Loons” off Ringmaster, but IDK if that is still the case. Been bumpin a lot of Carnival of Carnage lately. Honestly it could be a track off that album.
Current era… hmm…. I’d have to go with either “The Clowns are Back” or “I’m Sweet”.

ah. by ‘era’, i just meant the links, not the ‘second deck’ as a lot.
but whateva.
honestly, probably at least half of my current top favorite bangers are from the… uh… ‘eon’…? of the second deck.
in other words, they done as many [or more] top-level cuts since the sixth, as they had before. yeah, i said it.

For me it’s Amy’s in the Attic. I think it’s an example of a truly brilliant Insane Clown Posse song. The marriage of atmospheric production and on point rapping makes for something truly uncanny that’s not just the sum of its parts. It works on multiple levels, both as a ghost story and a parable of a man driven insane from guilt. From a storytelling aspect it actually has a lot in common with the literary genre known as New American Gothic, something I doubt the creators intended or were even aware of. That alone elevates it above the run of the mill shock and shlock that typifies horrorcore, transcending the genre and simply standing as a great piece of horror music. Also that slow mechanical drone that follows as the song concludes, really giving a sense that you’re about to step off a carnival dark ride. What a great album closer.
tl;dr I like it cuz its spooky.
